Very nice indeed. There will be many memories made in that cabin.

Thanks everyone.
Hoping to have it done here soon. I want to bring the wife down to see the progress in person. Should be a good family trip.
Not looking forward to the kitchen install at all. Contemplating hiring someone to be honest. Open to suggestions if you have a recommendation.......... Kitchen is really not bad at all. Just measure the heck out of it and learn to be good with molding. You can cover a multitude of sins with molding. Hire out your countertops if you are doing solid surface.

Thanks guys!
I just liked this style cabin I guess. I needed the crawl space obviously to fit under the thing to work on it (plumbing, electrical, duct work for AC) and was not a fan of the look of the cement block foundations on cabins so this is what I went with. Down the road I will look into other options such as cement piers or something but those 6x6's aren't going anywhere anytime soon I hope. I didn't read every post and I don't want to bum you out,but you need to spend some money and get that on a foundation fairly soon. Those 6X6 posts can start to go in about 5 years in some cases, just depending on the wood itself and soil where it is set. I really wish ya'll had built on concrete pillars to start with. It wouldn't have been much more then. Ya'll have done some really good looking work on that cabin, and I would hate to see it not last as long as it should. Get it on some stone,or steel with treated wood between the stone or steel and anything else, and get it treated for termites if you already haven't. It's looking real good man!

I definitely plan on doing this, I just haven't looked into anyone that does this type of work. Just trying to finish the inside to get family down there with me on these trips. If you or anyone else knows anyone please let me know. Thanks

If you or anyone else knows anyone please let me know. Thanks You can do it yourself. You might could make a stack of blocks right beside your 6x6. If you do,dig down below freeze line to solid dirt and start with a cap block. You will have to make two stacks and jack the foundation enough to get some pressure on your foundation stack. Another option is that you could look into how expensive those screw jacks are that foundation people use. Then you could get your block stack up so high and put a screw jack in there and tighten it up on your joist. You might could get some concrete pillar sleeves in there and just fill to your seal, but I imagine you will still wind up using some spacer blocks and jacking to get pressure on the new foundation.

I think I will pass on that! I will leave that to someone else who is more knowledgeable. I don't think youtube can save me on this. I will try and find someone to help me out and get a quote. Thanks for the info though.

This is pretty sweet! Is this your camp or are you planning on living there? This is my hunting camp and family getaway. I wish I could talk my wife into coming back to Alabama but it probably won't be until after my kids are out of the house.
