Lots of members on here and their families suffered life changing events 6 years ago today. Let's keep our members and their lost loved ones in our thoughts today. I don't speak my feelings much but just know as time heals wounds we never forget that day.

Absolutely, will never forget it myself! The scars on the landscape are slowly healing, but the scars on peoples hearts will always be there.

Thank God schools were closed that day or let out early. Enterprise was a horrible lesson we all learned from sadly.

My wife ( not my wife at the time) was a student at The University of Alabama during that time. She lost several friends, a couple of them I was pretty familiar with. It was a tragic day and I hope we never have to endure that again.

We came into work that morning and was quickly sent back home. I had several jobs scheduled in the Anderson Hills subdivision in Harvest for that day. When we re-opened for work a few days later I had to go check on those houses. The neighborhood was a wasteland of debris. I thank god That I wasn't in that Neighborhood on that 27th day of April.

I almost died in that tornado and recall the events of that day like it was yesterday.

Here are some pictures of my best friends house. Nothing left but the foundation. That is his wife holding a coffee mug from my wedding it came through unbroken. These are guns from his neighbors house and his neighbors gun safe. We found my buddies safe 250 yards from his house buried in a pine thicket under the debris. We were very lucky to have found it!

I was at work that day. We hit the road right after we watched it pass the station.

I was on the way to work. People there couldn't get ahold of their families. It was a bad time.

Yeah I hope we don't ever have to go through that again. Some of the clowns on here that like to mock the weather forecast need to remember that it's days like that is why some of us take it a little more serious.

Learned to keep extra gas in cans and a cash stache after that storm. Also got a generator and haven't needed it since. <knocks on wood>

Agreed. For a few folks that day the weatherman may have been the very last voice they heard before God took them. Weathermen have an incredibly boring job 99.9% of time, the other .1% they are a de facto undertaker for many folks hanging on for dear life. James Spann realizes this and calmly works his way through his job during times of crisis in a manner that should be revered.

what sticks in my mind is the trees in my front yard blowed down north to south and ones in back yard were west to east. puts the house in the middle of it. house was slightly damaged but we were ok huddled up in the basement. Them things are mean and looked like a bomb dropped in my pasture

X2, generators come in handle with a shop vac to clean out shooting houses though smile I looked and looked for a propane generator because gas was hard to get for a week around here. I always have a couple full tanks but ended up getting a gas one.

I remember it every year as my oldest opens his birthday presents. He was a few hours old and we were in the hallway at St Vincent. I remember the lady across the hall in labor and I though she was gonna give birth in the hallway. While many lost everything, we were blessed with a healthy child.
