Said only 45 minute fight. Impressive It dang sure is for a fish that big and strong! If whoever is driving the boat knows what they are doing surprisingly it doesn't take that long. Sounds like the daddy and the captain was some ole salts. Yup cus that fish could've easily gone 5-6 hours

Best part they did it with 80 class reel with 100# line, not getting dumped and 45 minutes that's impressive boat handling skills. When i first started reading I was expecting to see 130 class reels.

David don't say that you'll give Jason a heart attack. His new boat is that big! His boat is nice. Real nice. I seen it with my own 2 eyes.

You get a jig stuck in their mouth so it jams the mouth open and they come right to the boat. Dangerous once they're on board if they have any size to them. Be ready to bash them in the head if you don't have an ice box big (and strong) enough to hold them.

Back about 20 years ago the fish & game folks said bluefin didn't come into the gulf much at all - just a freak thing when someone catchs one. A friend of mine caught a big bluefin that got off the hook at boatside over on the La. Tx. border , I had never heard of a bluefin in the gulf at that time . Great catch for sure 835lbs. .

Everyone involved in landing the fish has to have a commercial license in order to sell it. I doubt that was the case. Ain't the gov't great?

I remember a few years ago when a lady angler on a commercial boat caught the first legal bluefin of the year that was worth an estimated $900k in the Japanese market, but they couldn't sell it because she didn't have a commercial license.

What's crazy is that he filleted it instead of selling it. I bet it was worth $10k or more They've got a 58' boat and a captain, I doubt they care 3 270qt coolers full of steaks is a lot though Yeah that's not much more than lunch money for those folks. Congrats to the young man. I agree, they are definitely taxpayers with a setup like that.
