I have to be honest and tell you that I snickered at least twice when reading through your story. But after seeing how much you lost I'm almost compelled to pass an offering plate to help you out. smile

I know the lake, I think I may have to go sit in my chaise lounge with a cooler of beer and watch the retrieval. smile I'll bring a video camera.

WOW!!

Good thing that popR in your shoulder wasn't still hooked to the rod which was entangled in the anchor in 26 ft of water.

Could have been really bad.

Glad you came out wet AND breathing.

God Bless,
David B.

Brandon, you are a good sport for posting the story! Like I told you on the phone that day, it could have been a lot worse and I'm thankful you didn't drown.

It really is a funny story to read or hear told. With that said, when I realized how easily I could have gotten tangled in the anchor rope, it was pretty sobering. It really all happened so fast that I couldn't believe. Very thankful for all of the losses to be something that's replaceable.

Boff, I don't know when the line broke from the Pop-R to the rod, but was thankful it did.

I keep a chain type stringer handy for that very reason.

It is not. It flipped upside down after filling with water. The anchor was tied off to a cleat so it just sat there, upside down, bobbing in the water all day. My trolling motor was sticking out of the water like a flag pole for a while but it eventually worked it's way loose and sunk as well. I recovered the boat after work the same day.

Brandon, I'm really glad this story ended well. It could have been a disaster. Thank goodness it's something to laugh about.

here's your answer. Add some weight to keep it flat on the bottom.

I feel your pain. I've been there and done that only with different circumstances (wasps) and a lot warmer water temps I'm sure. Glad you made it out in mostly one piece minus your pride.

Glad you're ok. That could've went so much worse. The story is quite humorous though.

Go to a local fire station and see if they have any type dragging hook you could borrow. Here locally we have a lot of departments with the Rescue One boats that are equipped for "bad type" retrievals. Just a thought.
