If I land this job opportunity I have pending I am going to need a car.

I'm thinking a vehicle, likely a Camry or Avalon from a private party in the $5,000-10,000 range and roughly sub 100,000ish miles and dumping it in 2 years.

Auburn Credit Union has a rate of 2.75% but I believe I can get a better rate.
I went to the local Wells Fargo he said 8.5% and I nearly laughed.
My credit score is good at around 725 and I have roughly $10,000 in student loans.

Any leads or insight would be appreciated.
Thank you

Give thought to a new Civic at 0.9% through Honda Financing, or if you get a wild hair, step up to a CR-V. Great little gas milage cars. I had a Civic for driving over 120 miles per day when working in Montgomery and got right at 40 MPG.

The interest difference on that amount is negligible at 2.75% even if you saved a full 1%. You need to check the terms of the loan because most rates that low require a certain amount financed and a newer model car. If you can get 2.75 on a 6 year old $10k Camry I'd jump on it if I just had to finance it.

Try suntrust, you do everything online and it's super easy. They direct deposit the money into your account. Last car I used them for was at 1.9

Probably be hard pressed to find an Avalon that fits that criteria. Then again, you might. I would seriously consider a Civic or Corolla. The current ones are the size of mid-sizes of fifteen years ago.

APCO CU or Avadian, look online then call and confirm the rate.

I bought an Accord with 100,000 put another 200,000 on it. Check to make sure timing belt has been serviced or price accordingly. You have to do that especially on Honda, around $500+ to get it done with water pump included.

Auburn Credit Union for a used car is 2.75% or 2.5% if you've financed through them before. 2.25 is only for new year and previous year models (so 2016 & 2017) which can be brought down to 2.0% if you've financed a car through them before.

I think you get a car allowance correct? Do you get a gas card too? Haven't seen many outside sales positions where the salesman has to pay for fuel.

Talk to East Alabama Community Federal Credit Union, they're located at the hospital in Opelika.

probably depends if he is actually employed by the company or independent. Our outside guys are about 50/50. The independent ones are contract based and pay all of their own expenses. Of course, their commission is much higher because they don't get a base salary or expenses.

You can get that rate lowered if you go in to WF waving a gun around.

I would keep checking credit unions though...I doubt that 2.75% is legitimate for the price range you're in, but you may be able to find one around 4-5%.

I would be getting $400-450 a month for the car and insurance and mileage based on 25mpg

It's hard to beat a Honda Civic. I have been putting about 100 miles a day on one for 5 years now. By far the best car I have ever owned. I had a Camry several years ago. They are good cars too.

Auburn University Fed Credit Union rates are as low as 2.75%APR for a used car and 2.25%APR for a new or one year old car.

My credit score is about the same as yours, I bought a vehicle last week and financed a portion of the vehicle at 3%. My credit union is offering As Low As 2.19%on 36mos, 2.79% on 60 mos and on up slightly from there.

To qualify for the lowest percent your credit would have to be between 750-800. I was in that range but a recent refinance dropped my score a little I guess.

I'd expect with good credit like yours you should be in at least the range I was in hovering at 3% or less if u do fewer months.

Oh and fwiw, those rates work for any amount financed as long as it meets this guideline:

*Maximum amount financed for Used Cars is 130% of NADA Book Value.

I use Redstone Federal Credit Union in Huntsville.

I called PenFed and their best is 1.99% for top tier credit.

I don't think I would qualify for Redstone Credit Union, I have no connections to the base or North Alabama really.
