A big shoutout to Bill Zearing of Cody calls! I've never met Bill until today. I've used Cody turkey calls for years and I've always loved em. A few years back I had a problem with my woodsman slate, it wasn't sounding like it usually does. I called up Bill and he said to send it to him. Well before I could send it to him, he sent me a brand new drop dead series call and a handful of strikers, some that he doesn't even sell to the public. Upon further review, it turns out I had a problem with my striker. He told me to keep the call and the strikers for nothing. I sent him a check anyway and he sent it back and wrote void all over it. Well I finally got to meet him today at the show and let me to you, Bill is a great guy. We stood and talked for 20 minutes or more. I wound up buying another call, a brand new one he's come out with. It sounds fantastic. It's made from reclaimed heartwood pine flooring from an antique hotel in Mississippi. I foresee a lot of dead birds in the future. If you're at the show or plan to go, go by and chat with Bill. Buy a slate, any of the woodsman series are great calls. You won't meet a better feller who takes pride in his work, and who makes great calls.

good looking calls bud! I'm gonna have to try one out. Are you running the woodsmans drop dead, or the woodsman? I'm looking at the website now.

I'm looking at the website now. if you're gonna be just one, buy the drop dead series slate. It's got green slate from Vermont in it. It's a little higher, but damn it's fine! I've got the woodmans slate with a walnut pot and a heavy hickory striker. Also the drop dead slate with a walnut/oak pot with green slate and carbon tipped hickory striker. I just bought the woodsman fatwood series with heartpine pot, heartpine striker and green slate.

I played with the heart pine with green slate today, it was a sweet sounding call. And he was a nice guy. And I'm waiting on ckylec to get tired of the one he bought or to look the other way while hunting and I'll have a nice one :-)

Thanks for posting about Bill and Cody Calls , my family is from the Central PA area , my son made a solo trip to that area to visit my dad and mom during summer vacation. My dad called Bill to ask if he could bring my son ( young up and coming Turkey Hunting Junkie ) to visit his wood shop where he makes all his pot and box calls. To this day my son talks about his visit and all the cool things Bill and Cody showed him during his visit. They had just finished a house they had built from trees they cut off there land. Pretty Genuine Family ! And to top it off Bill gave my son a brand new box call he had just finished from cured Walnut off his property.
