Damn Dam

EMERGENCY EVACUATION ORDER ISSUED: Officials are anticipating a failure of the Auxiliary Spillway at Oroville Dam within the next 60 minutes. Residents of Oroville should evacuate in a northward direction, toward Chico. Other cities should follow the orders of their local law enforcement.

From the pictures I saw in another story it looks like the entire structure is compromised. They could have a full blown failure on their hands.

As much as you stupidly want that to happen your grocery bill will absolutely suffer if that occurs.
Some of the most fertile productive land in this nation is in that area.

Northern California is where the decent folk live, don't confuse them with the crackheads in the south. I know that seems backwards but it's true.

Ehhh quite a few on this site hold that opinion and many genuinely believe it.

It kills me that this has been going on for a couple of days and they have just issued an evacuation order in the last couple of hours.

If I am not mistaken this is the largest earthen dam in the US.

I don't give a frak how he meant it - my wife is scared for her family right now, and writing a dumbass post - even if trying to be funny is stupid.

Buddy of mines guard unit just got activated to respond. One last hurrah for him as he's about 120 days from retirement & looking to leave Kalifornistan in the rear view mirror asap.

Its the tallest concrete damn in the US but the emergency spill way has an earthen base. Its never been tested before this and it looks like its failing.

Tallest, not the largest. 700 feet tall. That's holding back a LOT of water, or trying too.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.
