It's somewhere on the TN river, but don't know exactly where. Probably around Decatur.

I don't recognize that bridge as being in Alabama on the TN River. I'm 59 years old and none of the bridges that I know of being replaced looked like that.

This link is all the river crossings on the Tn River in all states. It doesn't have pictures but you could Google pics by name of each bridge. I don't believe you're gonna find that structure over the TN River though. I'm thinking Coosa River.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

It was definitely after ww2. I don't know when the TVA dammed everything up, but I'd guess it was taken between 1945-1950

I might not even be the TN river, but it seemed like the most probable one.

I believe y'all are right. Except the garden bridge doesn't seem to have a straight section in between any arches

That really looks like the Keller Memorial Bridge in Decatur. Before they built the one just east of it. It was demolished when they built the new one in its place now.

That photo and their clothing is not Early 1900s period clothing. This looks to be an image from sometime in the late 40s at the earliest and probably during the mid-1950s IMO. Post-WWII for sure.

The Tennessee Rive was not dammed in the early 1900s, so a low bridge like that over an undammed river might have been a possibility. But from the angle of the photo these folks would be standing on what would be west of the boat ramp on the southwest side of US 31. Not sure if that ramp even existed back then. I can't remember the name but it's the one between 31 and the railroad trestle.

Pretty sure the Keller Bridge over US 31 was much higher. It also had a drawbridge for barges, too. That may be one on the right side of the bridge in the photo but damned if that's not a lower bridge than I remember the Keller being.

EDIT: After seeing the previous post and link to the Keller, I think you're right about it being the Keller and that's the drawbridge on the right side of the photo. It just seemed higher when I was a kid.

The dams on the TN river in N AL were built in the 30s for the most part. The exception being Wilson which was built in the 20s.

I'm pretty sure it was taken from the boat harbor like Clem said. There used to be a lot more land between where the pavement is now and the railroad bridge if I remember right. There was a big grassy area there where there is water now.

The ramp on the river side was right to the left when you turn in to the harbor. The one one the river side where the Hard Dock is wasn't built that long ago. Most of the fisherman launched on the north side there was a nice concrete ramp there.

From left to right, my grandfather, my grandmother, and my grandfather's older brother. Here's one of them after they enlisted.

Nice pics. Reckon there was any Army/Navy rivalry there? Great pics.
