I remember having some irrational fears coming out after dark near the old Manchester Cemetery when I was a kid. No one lived nearby then. It was just me and a big ol spooky hollow. Damn hoot owl didn't help things. Sometimes a bobcat would scream before daylight. There was an old dilapidated house not too far from the cemetery. It was a fun place in daylight but creeped the hell out of me after dark. If some of these guys on here knew of the old stories about ol' man Albert and that cemetery, they'd have never gotten out of the truck! Albert Ayers was a demon from Hell. I actually believe every word of what I just typed. He was a good bit older than me but I knew him for as long as I can remember first hearing his name. I was around him and some of ta people that he hung out with in the early 70s. Sometime in the 80s he dug up a baby's grave in Manchester and boiled the bones to make "soup". 3 people that I knew died in his presence and another one that I didn't know. All died under questionable circumstances. A family member close to his mother was a federal judge in Gadsden and nothing ever stuck other than misdemeanor charges when was arrested. My grandpa lived across the road from and put him on his ass in the middle of the road once. I wasn't born yet but I always got a kick out of hearing Paw tell it. Albert had said some inappropriate comment to one of Paw's daughters (my aunt). Paw just caught him out and cold cocked him. "The SOB was so tall, I had to stand on a Coca Cola crate to hit him," he said. "What did he do when you hit him?" I asked. "He just laid there," Paw said. Albert gave our family a wide berth from then on.

I can only think of two things that have scared me in the woods.
The first was on Skyline one morning. I was walking into the edge of a big draw one morning where I have hunted several times. There is a hump beside that draw that I climb on to see better. As started up that hill my light caught some eyes. I figured it was a deer bedded down and kept walking l, expecting it to bolt as I got closer. It never did, but finally stood up. WAY UP. The eyes were prob 5' off the ground. I froze and it just stared at me. After a couple min, it just walks off slowly. I watched it walk of for about ten minuits before it disappeared. I still have no idea what it was.
The second was an owl in a tree near the tree I had climbed. I had no idea it was there or what it was at first. It started moving around just at dark, but then it made a sound like a demon escaping from hell. Made my skin crawl. I didn't want to tell anyone bc I figured I'd get laughed at, but my FinL asked if I heard his owl. Turns out it did that nearly every evening and he intentionally put me in that tree.

in the forest a few years ago way before daylight. I stopped with my green light turned off fooling with my gps for some reason. well after about 5 minutes I turned the green light back and looked up and there is 5 sets of green eyes looking at me. scared the crap out of me, had a the nerves on both legs go crazy it ran from both set of toes to the top of my head. as I was getting the shotgun off my shoulder, a danged deer blew at me. but when you see green eyes 15 foot from you it aint right....
if i hadnt taken up hunting i might have became a juvenile delinquent or worst taken up GOLF

You know what will scare the chit out of you? Stepping on a covey of quail. Sadly, happens way less than once did. Been awhile since I came across a covey.

Climbed a tree years ago on a pipeline. I used to go early, like go into the woods at 4am, so everything would be quiet when the sun came up.
Sat in tree for probably 30 minutes then I hear a scratching noise. Gets louder and then it stops. After another 30-45 minutes there is enough light to see that a bob cat had climbed the tree next to me and was asleep on a limb. His tree was about 20 feet from mine.
The scary part was when I considered what I would have done if he had chosen my tree to sleep in.

Holes on ford150mans land You shouldn't be afraid of that. No one would go through the trouble of digging a hole for an attorney. Just throw them out, huh? I could tell you a story about a hole in the ground, a GW, LOTS of attorneys, and a GW not allowed back on the property. The liability of that hole on your property was my first thought when I read it.

There is 2 different high fence. 1 small and one big! Mine was free range in the big pen and was not a breeder buck. Why does it have to be twisted around??

After a while something landed square on top of his head; he reached up to brush it off, and grabbed a bobcat by the paw. The ensuing fight went on a few seconds until he was able to get the muzzle of his .270 over his head and pull the trigger, killing the cat. Up until he killed it, he didn't know what had a hold him or what he had hold of! Only damage he came out of it with was a small scratch in the center of his forehead.

I don't know the whole story but Rusty fell down an old well and injured his back..I remember at night. Took a while to get him help and out of the well. I visited him in the hospital right after it happened. Pretty scary.

Game warden in the newspaper article about it said the only thing he could think of was that the cat was way up above him when he climbed (obviously) and either slept through the climbing, or the hunter had been there and still long enough that the cat forgot he was there.

I visited him in the hospital right after it happened. Pretty scary. Been awhile so I may have to ask some that where involved. GE had filled in all the wells on their 6400 acres. Naturally, over time, they sunk. I remember a fall of 2 - 3 feet. I can check on that. He was on the job and was chasing someone on foot. He sued GE. They settled out of court and 1 stipulation was he couldn't come back on GE property. The other GW, Terrell I think was his name, was to handle the GE property and from what I was told did a professional job.

One of the few advantages of being mostly deaf these days. I don't hear strange noises in the woods so they don't scare me.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I expect his underdrawers were more damaged than his forehead though. Mine would have been ruined.
