We're having weird rut this year between Carrollton and Pickensville. I guess you'd call it a trickle rut. Been going on since right after Christmas. Normally we'd have very defined seeking, chasing and lockdown phases. Not this year.

This for sure, I would think in the next couple of weeks more mature deer will definitely be seen. I am still seeing super young bucks cruising and just now weeing evidence of mature bucks roaming around. The one killed at our place had never been seen before and was standing in the middle of a food plot that is in the middle of of a 160 acre cutover. My wife's family owns about 500 acres on hwy 86 and I am headed that way at the end of the week so I was just curious. I talked to her cousin up there that's hunts a pretty good bit on some other land and he says they haven't even started yet. Where on 86? Between Carrollton and Pickensville or between Carrollton and Gordo. My place is closer to Pickensville and what rutting happened this year is basically gone
Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

Our place is about 4 or 5 miles from Pickensville if you are headed toward Carrollton. Wouldn't be the old Mayo place would it?
