A buddy of mine named Caleb (aka "Firehunt" on here) stuck a giant buck with his bow yesterday in Cullman County and I asked him if I could share the pics and story here...I didn't even know he was an ALdeer member lol. He doesn't post a whole lot and has never known how to post pics and such, so that's why I'm posting for him here... My Dad and I helped Caleb track the buck yesterday afternoon and it was a wild one! The buck doubled back on his blood trail twice and even ran down the pavement of a county road for over 75 yards at one point (50 yards from a two story, brick house)...We tracked til dark yesterday and quit when we lost the blood trail. Caleb mapped it out last night and we had blood trailed the deer 1.63 miles...We know we were pushing the deer, but we were afraid the deer would totally quit bleeding if we allowed him to bed down. At the rate he was bleeding, we kept deciding to continue trailing him and he would bleed to death at any moment. David Jones was able to bring his dog, Bo, and help Caleb this morning (my Dad tagged along as well)...Bo found the buck dead over a mile away from where we quit on Sunday! They scored the buck when they got it loaded in the truck and it rough scores 169". David Jones posted more pics and a video on the "Alabama Blood Trailing Network" Facebook page. Congrats, Caleb!!!

Where did he hit the deer at ? I can see a hole low behind the shoulder, but a lot of blood low on his belly. Just curious for him to go that far, and you said he was bleeding good. Only curious, congrats on a great deer !!!

Only curious, congrats on a great deer !!! When I say he was bleeding good, I mean it was almost as fast as you could walk through the thickets for that 1.63 miles lol. We covered that distance in 3 hours and a lot of that time was spent looking for the direction the buck had forked off after doubling back on the trail (twice). Caleb shot the buck at 15 yards. The buck was quartering to him severely (not quite straight-on) and it hit the buck right behind the left shoulder, exiting its stomach...The deer ran about 20 yards and stopped, so Caleb got another arrow. The second shot went right in front of the right shoulder and exited the brisket, missing any vitals
