Well. On the way home now from TX. Had an absolutely awesome trip. We killed a few bucket list birds and at least one is gonna cost me a taxidermist bill. Got down early Wednesday afternoon and the guide pointed us to a walk in public spot. Long walk but managed to kill 3 redheads.
Thursday we hunted the Laguna Madre bay off Padre Island and killed 5 limits of redheads. It is unbelievable the amount of redheads that place holds. There was a ton of bluebill also. For some reason the only pic I took was of the first 5 we killed that morning. Never got a pic of the day's total haul.

Because of high winds, 20+ mph, we hunted freshwater Corpus Christi lake on Friday. And I am damn glad we did. Killed 22 between 4 of us, 10 different species. As group we killed a Texas slam of teal. Greenwing, Bluewing, and Cinnamon. We actually killed 3 Cinnamon teal. That one is going to cost me some money. My brother also killed a Black Belly Tree duck. The bluewings were in full color. Can't kill em like that in North Alabama.

This morning we decided to hunt the lake again. Pulled into the campground where the guide kept his RV, a damn train had derailed about 30 min before we got there. Guide was on one side and we were on the other. Had to put our waders on and climb under the train with our guns and gear. The guide picked us up and drove us the rest of the way down to the lake. First and last time I will probably climb under a train to kill a damn duck.

It was slower this morning than yesterday, but we still killed 17 by 10 am. It was a once in a lifetime trip. Killed 12 different species of birds in three days. The guide we used was top notch. I would hunt with him again and I plan to. Couldn't have hand picked a better man to hunt with. I'll gladly pass along his information to any one that wants it without hesitation.

Yeah, well, I always heard there were three kinds of suns in Kansas: sunshine, sunflowers, and sons-of-bitches.

That is nice. Been saying for years I want to go out there and duck hunt the Texas coast.

I like shooting a variety of species, and that trip fits the bill.

I've never killed a cinnamon teal or a full plumed blue wing. Congrats

The cinnamon teal would definitely be going to my taxidermist. Looks like a fun trip.
