Yes, there is a reason!

Thanks you for providing support for the point being made between private and public land hunting.
How will this effect your public land hunting in a negative manner? You are worked up about something, and the core is you feel your hunting sanctuary is going to be ruined by corn in some way. No bait/food/whatever you want to call it will be allowed on public land regardless. GW's will have much more free time, in theory, when they won't have to enforce esoteric "baiting" laws on private land, and can therefore focus more efforts on making your experience on public land more enjoyable. It seems like a win-win to me. It's not favoring any one group more than another.
Having hunted many many many years each on private lands and public lands, I clearly know the difference in opportunities available. I wouldn't hesitate to say that the GW's spend the bulk of their field time on private properties due to requests by the property owners for things like trespassing, I found a dead deer somebody poached on my property, somebody dumped a carcass on my property, people are shooting deer on my property at night, the neighbor is baiting, etc. Probably don't get to many of those calls on public property. So maybe it's not that great of an idea for the GW's spending all that time on public property and not responding to private property issues. I would think having the GW's swinging by hunting properties is a good idea if for no other reason to show a presence in the area for those folks that do poach deer at night, trespass, break in to hunting camps, dump deer/trash on other peoples properties, etc. But if that is not important just let the DCNR know that private properties don't need their assistance.

I'm still wondering why the stare/DCNR cares if someone kills 3 bucks over corn that was poured out or 3 bucks over corn that was planted. So if a farmer plants a field then I by good fortune can lease his land and hunt it when he cuts it and kill deer, am I better than the guy that bought it poured it out and killed a deer.

I can understand wishing everyone would put in some more "shoe leather" time and scout more but the same people that do that now will continue to do so and the ones that don't won't. It's not for me to decide how others want to invest their time and resources into hunting but I can't for the life of me understand the corn rule.

Not only do they perform recon via aircraft, but they ride your property while you aren't there as well. I have on two separate occasions, pics of wardens riding through my greenfields on their quads. We don't even ride through our greenfields! The first time they took my gate off the hinges to access the property. The second time (because the gate was chained at both ends) rode around our gate (which invited some other riders to do the same...). We had a spinner feeder (nowhere near a stand) set up with a camera on it. Your boy covered the camera with his hat so he could check how much feed was inside. Needless to say, we sold our feeders, because that is excessive bull kaka.

I believe they would be better served to concentrate on the night hunting going on every week in this area, the trespassing, the road hunting, and the folks dropping dogs in on other peoples property (and it's not even a dog area)...but it's an easy kill in most cases and a money maker.

3. While the state may have limited airpower resources, the National Guard has much more. Furthermore, their pilots are required to put in so many hours of flight time. All it takes is for an LEO to ask and they will happily accommodate them on a flight. I've done it. Also had a private pilot fly myself and another detective over a scene where a dead body was found and film the scene from the air. For the record if you are prone to motion sickness, about an hour in a helicopter is enough and running a video camera from a plane window is not good.

what exactly is the difference between supplemental feeding and baiting

Yep I got the email. What is next a Cold War between hunters and the game wardens? I thought we were in this together.

I think it needs to be all or nothing. Once the season starts, either you can hunt over it or don't have any bait on your property at all.

For instance, in VA you can put out all you want until Sept 1st, which is one month before the start of bow season on Oct 1st. After that, if it's on the ground and you are hunting within sight of it; it's illegal. Of course the loop hole is when farmers/folks that hunt "miss" the grain cart and dump a few hundred pounds in their favorite spot and somehow that pile of grain never disappears all season long...hmmm.

Folks not sure if it's already been posted but they're certainly using helicopters for scouting. I was in Dozier (south Crenshaw) this am and I had one circling around for probably an hour or so. In my 10yrs of hunting that place I've never seen this happen before.
