I now do maintenance for a hospital that is huge. I average 4 to 5 miles of walking and elevator riding a day. In and 8 hour period I might sit for 10 minutes. I currently have some gel insole sketchers that are very comfortable but aren't cutting it for this type of standing/walking. I am not required to have boots for this job but am open to it if y'all that are on your feet all day know of some that are the best. I don't know whether to go with some high quality work boots like redwings or some really good merrell tennis shoes or something similar.

Any help is appreciated!

My wife is a pharmacist and stands on her feet for long hours. Her as well as many of the other pharmacists wear Merrel. She recently talked me into a pair of their hiking boots and they're some of the most comfortable shoes I've worn.

For added comfort you might be able to throw a gel insert like Dr. Scholl's in your new shoes as well.

Georgia Boots are as comfortable as any shoe I've worn in the last 20 years. But honestly, if I was covering that much ground and boots weren't required, I might have to go the hiking boot route.

Keen is some of the most comfortable hiking boots I have worn. They have a wide toe box and require very little break in time. I have several pair and I'm satisfied with all of them. Not sure if they have what you a looking for, but check them out and see what they have.

The new Redwing's with their inserts are mighty fine. I work maintenance and love them. More like a hiking boot.

Get you some custom made insoles that are molded to YOUR feet. When u put them in and start walking u will hate them and feet like you're walking on concrete bc your whole foot is absorbing your weigh vs your heel. After having them, you will not be able to go back to shoes without the.. I walk all day for my job and knee and back pain has decreased as well. Get up with a orthopedic Dr and get you some made.

Give me bout 15 more minutes, I was dreamin about beavers..........

If your feet are hurting, whatever route you go with, go to CVS in the as seen on TV section and get you some angel socks. I thought I was wearing shoes/boots out in three months due to constant foot pain. I tried everything. After a few days wearing those I have been good to go.

I love my Wolverine but I'm not walking and standing like you do on a daily basis. On the times I have they haven't let me down.

Most folks at work cover from 5-12 miles per shift. Some of the popular footwear is timberland pros, Merrill hiking boots, a few keens.

I picked up a pair of oboz. They seem to be a new merrill. I really like them. I am not a fan of red wings, maybe I did not find the right pair.

My wife wears keens as many of the people do where she works. She has to have a safety toe if she goes out to the floor so most of them just wear them all of the time.

I work and walk a lot too. My in laws own a shoe repair business and have seen then all. They talked me into buying some Carolinas that was American made and had a real welt. I have as of now been wearing them for 4 years and they got a lot of life still in them. Next I'm trying some thorogood due to half the weight. Spend the extra money for some good ones and don't go cheap not all shoes are made the same.

It's not how many days you hunt, it's how you hunt each day, that determines the success.

I have a pair of Keens that were comfortable, but not more so than other shoes I tried on. They really didn't seem to last near as long as Timberland or Rockys I've had before.
