It would be a long drive for me but I'd like to hunt it, not because of the deer being killed but for a nice change of scenery

Gonna be if not already an orange army up there with all the hunters heading that way. No thanks. Not really a big fan being around a bunch of trigger happy people with guns. Especially in the woods. I'm out

I would rather be tried by 12, than carried by 6.

There are a lot of good deer out there and for every one you see killed there are probably 3-4 or more you don't. I work with guys that live out in Lawerence and Winston county and a lot of those home guys you just never hear about. I've had different people I work with show me pics of deer they knew people killed that were very nice. Some of them had killed multiple good deer. I had a guy looking for atv parts and we got to talking about hunting and he started showing pics of some he had killed on public land and he had several good ones and one stud. The genetics out that way are hard to beat. I've been hunting on the property we have in Morgan county for over 20 years and never seen pics or live deer to compare to the kind of deer coming out of those areas. After seeing the deer coming out of there lately its caused me to want to find a club out that way just for the possibility of a 150+

I've thought about paying a premium to get in a club nearby even if I don't hunt it much thru the season

I can't believe that it just started producing. From what I understand that years ago when they stocked Alabama that is one of the areas that was stocked with Michigan strain deer.

The scenery or a gobbling turkey is the ONLY reason I'd visit that place. I AM NOT dragging a deer 1 mile, much less 3 or 4. It is not worth that to me. Nor do I care to hunt days without seeing deer. I know if you put enough time in, that may not be the case, but my hat is off to those going out there hiking in miles and miles to hunt a deer. I hope y'all all kill 200"ers! wink

Looks like the same guy that shot (what will be) the new Alabama Whitetail Record with a muzzleloader.

I just seen the pic of him where he was at the check in station. The side pic posted here doesn't do him justice. If someone has it post it up its a much better pic and shows how nice the deer really is.
