It's been a pretty good start. No big boys down, but they don't start hitting the dirt at our place until January, usually. The drought has all the deer in our bottoms, so seeing deer has been pretty easy. We're glad it finally rained.

Ya,our food plots still haven't jumped out of the ground yet. Hoping that seed germinates before they get any ice/frost this coming weekend. If not,we may not have any plots all year, which would really make it rough on alot of the members that just Hunt plots and shooting houses, not to mention, I'm sure Bob has been getting an ear full about having no deer and not having any fields. Ain't anyone's fault though. He's a good president, and about as fair a person I've ever met. Definitely a good guy to be club president. Lot of people won't cross him either; he's a pretty big boy and I wouldn't want to see him mad

I always thought naming deer was a TV thing until we started keeping track of deer year to year. It gets really confusing when you have multiple 8 pointers, and you're sitting here trying to tell your buddies which buck you saw..

" The 8 point with the one short brow tine, remember? "
" You mean the one with the ripped ear? "
" No, the fat one thats 3.5 y/o"
" Ohhh, the one with the limp "
" No.. the one with the big spread "
" Now I get it, the one we had on camera 2 "
" No he was on camera three "
" oh yea yeah, that one. continue.."

" What's that old saying.....
Never let your spouse leave the house horny or hungry, because their is always a whore with a sandwich out there. "

HA! Yeah, it's not good seeing him mad. But, he is one of the best people on the planet. I know he runs a good club up there. I wish I could join, but I'm so focused on getting my kids into hunting it wouldnt make sense for me to join that one.

Congrats on a nice deer!

My grandfather was the first person I ever heard name a deer - he had a big buck surprise one cold morning in 1975 and he missed the deer 3 times with a shotgun. We went in there and looked and one shot hit a tree at least 8' off the ground. We told him that he had shot too high; "he was a high deer", was his response.

Anyway, he named him Big Sam. My dad saw Big Sam the next season and missed him with a rifle. A neighbor killed him later that season. Only had 7 points but he was a monstrous deer. When I hear of clubs with an 8 point rule, I always wonder what they would have done if Big Sam came by.

Congrats on the cool deer. We've got a young buck right now with a rack shaping up like this one. I hope he turns into a stud like yours!

Thanks man!! Hopefully the rut will get started next week/weekend and ya'll can knock some down. I pulled a card off a cam I had set for video last week before we left and had a video of a 3yr old buck chasing a doe all over the field so maybe they're getting close. Let me know if ya'll are seeing any chasing up there
