Still a month and a half away around Gville

Yep..them breeder bucks in pelham are chasing hard...for their old pen and a bale of hay! LOL! I actually went and checked out Double Mountain. I live 30 minutes from there and never heard of it. It looks like the petting zoo at Oak Mountain.

Well the chasing or rutting has began in north limestone! Had a shooter chase 4 does around the field in the rain this afternoon around 4:15. He ran them in and out of the field so much and wouldn't stop so I could get a steady shot on him until it was nearly past shooting light. He finally stopped quartering towards me at about 225 yds. Knowing it would be my last chance of a long week of hunting and not seeing any shooters, until next Saturday, I decided to squeeze one off. Needless to say I missed my mark and he just stood there! None of the 8 deer that were in the field even ran more than 10-15yds! I chambered another round while telling myself that was stupid, you know it's too dark and too late to be throwing up pop shots! I then watched for about 10 minutes as he chased a small 4 point out of the field and then went back to harassing all the does. If I can get outta some of my duties tomorrow I may see if he's still at it. I don't know if I can work all week not knowing, I knew I should have taken this next week off instead of this one...
Roll Tide!!!
