I had a eventful morning this morning. I got in the woods late due to work and when I got within 100 yards of my stand there was a buck making a scrape about 10 yards behind the tree my stand is on. That buck is a decent little 8 but I rushed the shot and tried to shoot through a small gap in the trees and brush. I just made rookie mistakes. I checked the area for blood and didn't see any so I climbed on into the stand. I ended up seeing another buck (no shot) and 8 other does and one of those went home with me. And now me and Eli are in a stand because he just couldn't wait until morning to get in the woods.

The secret to a long marriage is to keep on dating, just as you did before marriage. We have "date night" once a week.
Hers is Saturday, mine is Thursday.

The only time a married woman gives those is if your not married to them!

I don't see any rain in the forecast till tomorrow night and now it's been reduced to a 20% chance.

Well that explains it then. I was hoping you knew something I didn't.

Hunted bankhead until noon and got down. Saw nothing. I wish I had gotten in a different spot closer to a bedding area.

Got out to the TNF land this am and had. Saw 1 doe at day break and 1 turkey about 9. Had a coyote come through around 10 but couldn't get a shot at the fast sob.

Took some advice Atoler gave me last night. Found some better looking spots. Still no deer, and the hike out with my climber just about killed me, but I think its going to be the first area to try once the rut kicks in. Also found a spot this evening that was in SUPER thick stuff. Should have found that during bow season...

PS...Dont eat chinese food for lunch when you are planning on hunting all evening. Ouch.

Thanks man. We hunting several different pieces of property and happen to get lucky a few days in a row. Looks like the rut will be spaced out a little at each place to so it could get real fun.

I was late getting to my stand, just couldn't get up when I was supposed too. Finally got there around 7:00 got set up, like someone else said, it was a beautiful morning. So I thought I would take a few pictures and sent them to a friend at work. I heard something make a big noise to the north of me and seen a glimpse of a deer ,so I grabbed my call and blew on it a couple times and they were two does in front of me about 70 yds away in no time at all. I picked the biggest one out and shot, but I missed and they came running toward me and under the stand. I hollared at them and the one I shot at stopped ,I shot and she let out a blood gurgling bleat I had never heard before and went about 5 yds. and fell over. I guess that's what happens when youu get shot with a 35 Remington. Great day though was home and through skinning by 11:00 a.m. This all took place around 8:20 a.m. gun

I reloaded a few hundred of them 35rems for a cousin of mine a few years back. He went to shoot them for the first time yesterday and put three touching at 100 yards. Them are some sweet shooting guns and the heavy rounds seem to shoot very well

The rut is on at Bankhead?? That seems WAY early. I'm only about 15 miles from there and have seen no signs of rut whatsoever. Good luck with your hunt. Buck's (processor) had a cooler full of bruisers Sunday afternoon when I dropped off my boys deer.
