Looks like I may be going to MO to muzzle loader hunt. I've got a 50 cal CVA and it shoots 295 gr power belts in a 2" group at 100 yards.

I've heard power belts weren't reliable though and had spotty performance. Some times they worked well and sometime they failed to leave any blood at all. I've hunted with this ML for several years, but have never shot a deer with it, so idk what to believe.

If I drive that far and do shoot a buck, I want to know the bullet will do its part.

I've never had a Powerbelt that failed to leave a blood trail. I've only killed a handful with them, though. I started shooting TC sabots and got less bullet drop with them. I can't remember if I've killed one with them or not. The TCs shoot well out to 200 yards in my muzzleloader.

I'm good with the 150 and in limit of a power belt, I just want to know that it's going to do the job if I do mine.

How hard are the shockwaves to load?

Not near as easy as the Powerbelts after a shot or two. With a clean barrel, they both are easy. I'm shooting pellets. Maybe the Buckhorn is easier, I don't know.

BTW, I shot the tipped Powerbelts.

Hornady XTP'S will drop em in their tracks..

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

Another vote for these. Knock on wood, I've never had to track one after I hit it.

I've bought the breech plug to switch to Blackhorn after this season is over. So far, shooting 777 it's within an inch at 100yds.

I've been shooting the 300gr Barnes Expander MZ since the 90s. My rifle will shoot 3 holes touching at 100yds. 100gr of Pyrodex Select loose powder is all it will group with and I love this load. Deer either drop right there or don't go but a few yards.

If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

I think I'm going to try the 250 or 300 gr barns bullets over 100 grains of 777 to start with and see what happens.

I picked up a box of 250 barns expanders and my BinL got a box of 250 Hornady XTP. Going to see which ones shoot better. Hope the barns work out.

My gun didn't shoot the 250 worth a hoot but loves the 300. Good luck.

I shoot the 250 gr Barnes T-EZ load in my TC Impact. Tight groups and perfect mushroom every time. I've only recovered two bullets from animals shot though. All others have been pass throughs.

Another vote for the Hornady SST250s. I shoot em under 100gr of Bighorn with 1" groups as well out of my Omega

I shoot the 300 grain Harvester scorpion with a crush rib sabot and 110 grains of Blackhorn 209 ... This load shoots one ragged hole at 100 yds and 1.5" groups at 200 yds.. deadly on elk, deer & hogs.. my rifles have 1/28 twist
