I need to buy new tires for my F150 and am trying to decide what to get. LT275 65 R18. Right now the Michelin Defender LTX is at top of list because of price after rebate. $965 Michelin Defender LTX vs $1109 for Bridgestone Revo out the door. It's priced cheaper than the Bridgestone tires at Costco but I'm still skeptical and debating. Looked at some of these online tire places but after shipping and installation costs, Costco seems hard to be hard to beat. Mostly city & highway driving with some off road to get in and out of hunt club and rural dirt roads . What do you think? Any good or bad experiencs with this new Michelin Defender LTX? Some other tire I should consider?

275 70 r18 bfgoodrick ko2 $800ish on Amazon free shipping. Good tires and maybe 3/4" taller than what you're saying. They ride and pull great for an all terrain

The defender is a great tire. I have the predecessor to the defenders and I get 80000-90000 miles per set. I use them on highway, street, and in the woods with no issue.

Even if you don't buy your tires there, go to TireRack.com and see what other drivers of YOUR SAME VEHICLE have to say about different tires.

What one truck likes, it may suck on your particular vehicle. Everybody here is gonna have an opinion, but they may drive a different ride than you.

You didn't say what year your F150 was, but here is the review page where you can enter YOUR EXACT VEHICLE and get HUNDREDS of reviews that pertain ONLY TO THAT RIDE.

It makes a world of difference:

I have always heard about how great Michelins mileage was. Not the most aggressive, but get the job done. I've had the Cooper Discover At3s and the ST maxx and have had great results out of both of them.

I bought a set of duratracs this week. I expect 40-50k on a small Tacoma, but we'll see.

I've had multiple sets of Michelin LTX M&S (look like LTX defenders) and have gotten 70-80k miles on them. Ride great. But they are definitely street tires.

I've had good luck with the Toyo open country m/ts in the past. I haven't read up on their R/Ts though. I just can't justify spending that much money on a set of tires. I average 55k+ miles a year on the road. I'll tell ya what though, I bought a used set of duratracs from a buddy of mine(3rd hand) and put 40k miles on them before I punctured the side wall. Those tires ran great and still had good tread left after being on 3 different vehicles. I'm running a set of Cooper At3s right now because I found a slightly used set for $100. It's the 4th set of Coopers I've had and imo they just aren't plyed thick enough for the woods.

Strange... I have the same tires in 265/75/16 on my Ranger and I'm at about 60k on them and they are still going strong. I'm about to order another set from Discount Tire Direct.
