My son thinks it's the best part of the deer, I just about agree.

I'll trade you my hearts for equal tender loin any day.

I've looked at em a bunch of times and thought about it. It's such a smooth pretty muscle.

He doesn't cut off the ventricles (top) and clean out the inside of the heart before grilling?

I'm not exactly sure I've never seen him prepare them to eat just what he does after he takes it out the deer

Being polite one day, I broke my usually steadfast rule against eating innards and tried a piece when offered. Tasted OK, like any other deer meat, but very chewy is the only way to describe it.

I have to agree, but after this thread I'm willing to give it another try fried. 😀

We eat every heart that comes out of the deer we kill. My 12 year old Grandson always worries abut blowing a heart up when any of us shoot a deer. That's how much he likes them. He'd rather have fried heart than fried or grilled backstrap.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

If I get me a deer or two this year, I'm going to have to try it out.

I have eaten them fried. I keep the hearts and livers for my grandfather to use for trotline bait.
