As I stated in another post, I "get" to work on a sewage ejector pump tomorrow. The pump is working but it's a two piece pump and the seal between the two pieces has blown out. This is causing it to lose pressure, shooting water out the blown seal and not pumping all the water up the discharge pipe. I can change the pump out pretty easily but a new pump is in the $400.00 range. I checked with Ferguson Plumbing and they don't sell the individual seal. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is any type of liquid seal I can put between the two pieces that will form a seal. Kind of like to make automotive seals. It would need to be able to hold up to the pressure of the pump while also not breaking down due to the water exposure. Thanks

Take it to B&D electric on 4th Ave south in Bham. They do most of my pump rebuilds. They also sell seal kits.

You talking about the mechanical seal on the pump shaft? If so that is my companies specialty. It's probably a type 21 style seal. I can get you one pretty quick and will give it to you at cost. Do you have any pics? Pump manufacturer and model number?

We also do pump repair and rebuilds as well in our shop.

Sounds like a two stage centrifugal pump, if its a 400 dollar pump, sadly its probably like a bic lighter. Once it wears out the best thing is replace it. It you have the model number and make post it up and lets see what kind of parts are available for it. Also, there was a guy on here that was asking for input on his website and he was a seal manufacturer, could probably help out.

Thanks guys. I'll post up the info tomorrow when I pull the pump. Once I saw the problem, I just put the vent pipe back on the lid until I can get to it tomorrow.
