What's everybody's opinion on taking a dump in the woods? I am a scent control freak and normally won't piss, spit, or chit anywhere close to where I hunt. The other day I was checking a camera I have in a bean field and one of those pains straight from hell hit me like a ton of bricks. I had no choice but to go right in the field as bad as I hated to. Later that afternoon I decided to move that camera and when I pulled up there were 5 bucks 50 yards from the chit just having a blast in the beans. I've got one of those pains this morning and it really makes me wonder if I could drop one and get away with it.. eek

If I get that kind of urge, it don't matter if there are 5 bucks watching me. I'm more worried if I have 3 Bounty paper towels in my pocket or not.

I have watched a guy on public land pee 20 yards from my stand. An hour or two later a basket racked 8 walks right up to it and bends down to sniff it.

I don't want to smell it so I usually kick out a hole and then cover it. Downwind from my stand.

I have never personally seen an animal sniff my poop.

It's chit. A deer doesn't know human chit from animal chit. Think of what all takes a dump in the woods. If a deer got wound up about every little foreign smell he would dig a hole and never come out.

Dump away but I wouldn't use those floral smelling wet wipes for the cleanup work. smile

Dump and piss away. One year I was taking a piss out of a shooting house when mid stream a doe walks out and just starts staring at me like "really dude." Ended up shooting her with the tool out and all. Talk about getting caught with your fly down rofl

I have dug many a holes with my boot if the urge hits. For that matter, and I will not go into details, but I have mastered taking a dump from 25' up in a tree when nature calls and you don't have time to climb down. And get this, I have killed two deer within 10 minutes and the relief with my bow within 30 yards of the dumpage.

Paper towels are good, but I'm a fan of blue shop towels.
They can stay in a pack for a while and not powder up like normal TP.
And if it gets bad, you can always go with the triple double back fold.
Plus, they aren't as rough as paper towels.

I'll take a big ol' chit anywhere I need to. Seems to me the flipping thru the pages of the magazine I'm reading bothers them more than the actual crap though.

I got a buddy that hunts out west with me and he swears it has no effect. He calls it putting out bait.

Sometimes I think people WANT to make it seem harder than it is. Being able to "conquer" the challenge or something.

If you leave enough rest notches it will actually pique the deer's interest. Especially the bigger bucks. Bombs away!
