My grandad called me yesterday and said it would be ready just come and pick what you want. So I got 2 overflowing wally world sack fulls. Put them in ziplock bags when I got home to put in the freezer and kept out bout 12 or so ears to keep in the fridge.

I put me 2 in the microwave for 3 minutes each, sprayed them in butter and made a mater sammich.

I love it when the garden comes in and can eat some good food.

I guess I'm a traditionalist, but if my wife brought spray butter or food such as fishsticks in the house, there would a discussion about it.

Mine is ready too. That's some good stuff. Especially with tomatoes, squash and cucumbers out of the garden too.

Always liked peaches and cream. I wish I had a little more real estate to plant a few rows. The photos look like you got some nice looking ears out of the picking.

Eh, 80% are good ears, the other 20% are good ears just shorter than the 2 that are on the plate pic; and I had to pick from what was left. I wish i had more land too, my grandad always plants more than he wants, so I usually go get some.

Peaches and Cream is the best corn there is in my opinion. I love it. Ours was stunted a little from the lack of rain and extreme heat back in June, but it is just now coming in.

I have always had trouble with the taste of frozen corn. How long will it keep as you have it put up, fresh in zip lock bags, before it starts to get that "frozen" taste???

Big Jack, I leave the shuck on and cut off the ends and wrap it in tin foil. It will keep a long time that way and all you have to do is put it on the grill. Quick and easy. Silks come right off when it's grilled.

The trick to putting up good sweet corn is getting it on ice as soon as possible after picking. If left out too long the enzymes in the corn turn the sugar to starch. Down in south Ga. where a lot of the sweet corn is grown, the corn is picked and boxed, then the wagon goes directly to those big cooler buildings you see from the highway.

Blanching slows down the ripening process.

Oh yea, be sure to pick it as soon as the silk starts to dry out. It can overripen on the stalk and be starchy.

Good stuff. All of those bicolor hybrids seem to be super sweet.

It will usually keep for awhile. I just make sure that when I get it out, I either boil or grill it. I did have some that stayed in the freezer for over a year and it was not good. With the small amount that I have, it is usually all gone after football season and the holidays.
