Welcome to the forum backwater. bead is an idot that prefers dove hunting to bow hunting ! I feel your pain, common sense is not common among many Bama hunters. Theirs is a different breed from a person that prefers bowhunting instead of slinging lead. I would have been tempted to test fire an arrow into the ground. Just because you are using public land does not make it alright to be an azzhole. I like both negro Perch is black??? I'll be danged. So am I.

I hunt public land for the challenge of it. Do your leg work and you'll find an area nobody hardly goes into. It is easy right now with no rain for so long.

I have seen my share of craziness on public land through the years but I have also met some dang good knowledgeable people on public land. Most were in the same boat I was and just couldn't afford a club at the time. Hang in there with it. I don't hunt public land as much as I used to but I kinda miss it. Of course I got to bowhunt during the week and would usually have the woods to myself. I've met and hunt with some great people on public land too. I've been guilty of walking up on other hunters myself. I know it's going to happen. The walking around 30 min to hr before last light is crazy.

You need to go further in. I hunted public land in Pennsylvania for 2 years and never saw a single person in the woods.
What you do today, you have to sleep with tonight.

Public or private, learn to find spots that are isolated & as remote as possible; if you're seeing people, you're not deep enough IMO. Rock solid advice especially on public land. Lace the boots up tight and get way off the beaten path. I`m back hunting public land this year and I quickly got reminded on opening day the fun of walking 900+ yards carrying tree stand, bow and all your gear. Come gun season I`ll be even deeper in the woods.
In your darkest hour when the demons come, call on me brother and we'll fight them together.

Welcome Back water. Most on here are great guys. Just ignore the ones aren't. When I hunt public land I very rarely run into other hunters. But I do normally walk in a long ways.
