anybody have any creative alteration projects that they have built for the back of there 4 Wheelers to better hold the brackets that come with the seed spreaders. My 2014 Honda Rancher back rack is standard hollow tubing that really doesnt support the weight of the spreader plus seed and normal spreading conditions.

Spreader: 15 Gallon Plastic Hopper with hand adjuster arm on the side for seed spreading calabration

I see a lot of people using a ratchet strap to help support the hopper. That would be about the only alteration I could think of.

It be's that way sometimes.

I put a turnbuckle on mine that goes from the top mount of the spreader to the back of the rack. It does a good job to help distribute weight off the front of the rack.

I had a mountrie and I solved that problem by mounting it on the front. Had to rig a string up to open/close hopper. You immediately knew if you had a stoppage.

I built a stand that went in the receiver of my ranger to mount a small spreader that was designed to go on a 4wheeler rack. It worked well, still have it somewhere but don't use it anymore due to buying one of the biologic 300lb pull behind spreader.

I like mine on the front too. Easier to see where you are throwing seed. Most guys with it on the back will be throwing seed 10 ft off into the woods on the edges of plots.

I dont mount mine permanently to the wheeler. I use 4, 1.5" muffler clamps with the U turned up under the rack and a small strip of plywood on the top side under the "strap" that goes on the muffler clamp.. Keeps it from digging into the feeder arms.

Easy on and off and holds better than the J hooks did.

We have one that we spread the ALDOT seed on our roads to keep them from getting rutted. Its great cause it throws the width of the road.

We use U bolts to hold it on. And we used to use a ratchet strap too but after a couple years use of it flopping around back there the bracket that attaches hopper to the frame broke. We rewelded it and added a second "circle" around the hopper and used heavier bracing. It should last for a long time.

I have mine mounted to the front too. It holds 100 lbs of seed, and i did some planting with it today. It's not my main planter, but there are times when it comes in handy. The bracket stays on the ATV all the time, and I just drop the hopper in any time I wanta use it.

We use the "Buyers 150 lb" spreaders on two 4 wheelers mounted with factory brackets on rear basket racks. They have a collar with set screw to dial in setting. Just used them again last weekend for the fifth year running with excellent results.
