I have jerked them out and pushed them through. If at all possible I prefer to push them through and cut it off It is amazing how tough one can be to push through. I never knew how tough skin really was until I watched someone push a hook through their finger.

I never knew how tough skin really was until I watched someone push a hook through their finger. I put a 5/0 1 oz jig in my bird finger one time when I was pitching. I got my dad to push it through. I honestly didn't think it was going to come through. He said he was pushing as hard as he could.
