It is really pretty stupid.

like most game laws, they were probably implemented for a good reason. But it is now used to hold people to the letter of the law, the spirit of it has long been forgotten.

For instance, i dont own a tractor or farmland, what harm am i doing (if) i poured some wheat out and shot birds over it. Would probably kill a lot less birds than someone who has the hunting rights sitting over a fresh picked peanut field. Its not"normal farming pratice". I'm a hunter, not a farmer.

if hunting vampire's was a thing, the dcnr would say you cant hunt them at night, kill them in a coffin, or use a wooden stake.

What are the restrictions on killing female vampires?

Doe days haven't been established yet. Not enough data from VampireCheck.

It would just mean; if you don't bait, no birds

As usual it depends on who is in the field. I was invited to a shoot in south Alabama about 20 years ago and while walking across the field I noticed a LOT of wheat and cull peanuts from the peanut mill, they were spread with a lime truck. I ask the guy that invited me about getting caught. He said right down there is Judge Wells, over there is another circuit judge, there is the sheriff and a couple of deputies, there are a couple of state legislators and at least one game warden. Nice shoot, and nobody got a ticket.

Was at a dove hunt in Sumter co a few years ago. Field looked legal. I walked it before the hunt started and found a Leo type flashlight in the disked earth. Hmmm.... Was with a few buddy's and we dismissed it. Well as the afternoon moved on there was a guy behind us that would never shoot a bird. There were several occasions we would call the bird and he would spastically look the wrong direction and never shoot. Hmmm... Well about 4 o'clock about 4 green trucks come down the long driveway and the guy we have been laughing at all afternoon comes walking up and flips out a badge and takes our guns and info. Sends us to the pole barn where all the hunters are grouped up. Apparently they had about 5 plants in the field. I have never been so mad but held my tongue. There were probably 40 grown tax paying men there most of which had sons with them and they talked to us like dogs. Who the frick pays these guys? We later learned that the land owners son had started too early on the wheat. This was fine when the Tuscaloosa dove hunters leased the field but when they fell out bam! Left a permanent bad taste in my mouth and cost the land owner 50 and four zeros plus God knows legal fees. Really Good people. The rules have changed since then but all should take dove hunting very seriously. And as a side note f..k the Feds.

Ok it was you and peppers, if you want to get real technical peppers wrote out my tickets and one others you wrote the other boys that was with us. It was a turned and disc seed bed with the millet and sogruhm growing around 8 to 10 inches tall with standing corn behind it. Peppers was real nice and explained everything because i thought we was legal excpet i was the only one with a hunting license thay wasnt expired, he said we what we planted wasnt planted at the right time so it counted as a baited field. Told me i had to disc it up and could plant winter wheat back and wait 10 days and I'd be legal. So.thays what i did

I documented that field for 2 weeks. Cracked corn, grain sorghum, proso millet and sunflower seeds are not planted in September, nor are they poured out in a field. The bait was freshened a few(2-4) days before opening day, it was not planted, it was placed solely to entice doves the the shoot. Looked a lot like the "classic" bird seed blend you'd get from Walmart; I may still have some pictures on my computer if I haven't deleted them just yet. I have a feeling you have some grudge against me...which is fine, grudge away. But when you question my integrity it becomes a whole other matter. Heck you once helped spread some rumor to the good folks on here that I was taking yeti coolers from people and selling them too...

Supposedly he was keeping them and selling themy personally. But I know no truth to this story just what I was told. But I know I haven't seen him since I was told he got caught he use to drive by the house like clock work for the last 2 yrs.

If you are confused about why you were issued tickets for hunting over bait or you need technical assistance with a legal dove shoot I will be more than happy to meet with you and help you. However, I have a clear conscience about these tickets.
