Drivers overall are worse today than ever. Texting, lack of enough law enforcement on main and interior roads stoping everyone, and a general problem with road ragey attitudes compound the problem. Folks who actually do the speed limits and are cautious drivers are looked at by many with disdain.
I don't even worry about getting a speeding ticket anymore in Alabama. It's not a concern to me and the penalty isn't a deterrent. With so few LEOs on the road, similar to game wardens in the woods, I don't give it a second thought. Not that I'm blatantly breaking the law but it's just not even something I consider.

I've been all over the good Ole USA and there isn't a worse damn group of drivers, than those in Boaz and Albertville. That is all No doubt about it. 431 between Guntersville and Sardis is the worst stretch of highway I've ever been on. It's all the places in the median where folks are pulling out and crossing over. That stretch of road is suppose to have the highest number per mile of any highway in the country.

That stretch of 431 is a damn fine place to get killed . One dangerous stretch of road, hate that place.

This is basically why Mrs. Irish and I sold our motorcycles after riding almost all of my life and Mrs. Irish riding for the past 9 years. It's just gotten too dangerous out there without at least some kind of cage around you. The roadways of the U.S. have changed for the worse, and smart phones and high tech cars are two of the main reasons. Too many distracted drivers.

The idiot mexicans up here get into the median and stop 100 yards back from where the turn is.It creates a quagmire for all involved and they will just sit there even though they have the right of way.I have lived all over the state of Alabama and this area from the river bridge to the drop-off at Rockledge is the worst I have ever seen.We have seen so many people lose their lives over the years in front of the Guntersville Wal-mart that it is mind boggling.

The median thing that I mentioned is so bad up here that there was actually an article in either the Sand Mountain Reporter or The Advertiser Gleam about a year ago.The article was called "Learn to turn". Obviously noone read the article because nothing has changed a bit.AC870 could possibly enlighten us if it was the Gleam.

I would bet that 75% of people driving these days do not know how to properly use a two-way turn lane.
