What would the recoil be like in that rifle?

I've shot a .338 in a Montana at the recoil is significant.
I've got a Montana in a .325 and to me the .325 is worse.
Keep in mind, this shouldn't be used as a plinking rifle. They are built as a working rifle and if used this way, the recoil shouldn't be an issue.
Just curious, what are your plans for this gun?

I saw one on 24hour last week.
Seems like he was asking $900.
The .338 Win Mag is probably the best all around caliber for North America.

Recoil is stiff, but if you want an Alaska rifle stick with .338 Win Mag assuming you don't reload. You can always put a brake on it but in a hunting situation you won't shoot it several times in a row, or let's assume you won't. There are obviously others, but that caliber will do anything you need it to do and do it well. That's what it has going for it.

I'd start with 225's.
Recoil with be a little less than the 250's and that's plenty of bullet for any NA game.

I have hunted with a 338 win mag for about 20 years. Its my go to gun. Its a as Remington custom shop gun and it handles great. About 8 1/2 lbs. Recoil can be sharp on the bench but you will never notice it in the woods.
