Got a crop saving .9" last night. Not a drought buster but by far best rain I've had in 7 weeks.

It may have rained out west of Hartselle, IDK...but it never rained at the house.

257, where is your shop? You've got to be close to me. We had 0.04" yesterday. Heavy rain was JUST west of us.

Friday I drove from Town Creek on a county road to US72 heading to Decatur and the corn fields I saw are in really bad shape. Almost as bad as the ones on the West side of I65 South right before you cross the river getting into Montgomery.

Also on that county road from Town Creek I saw a huge plant ( paper mill?) that has been shut down and it looked like not that long ago I don't know. I hate to see that all over as I drive around this state every week.

That's the closed down IP mill. That's a damn shame they shut it down.

That one just got a ton of rain. Flooded ditches and down powerlines on northern Blvd. power out at my office

That corn is dead looking cause it's nearly time to combine it. Not from drought. It was planted in Feb. time for it to die.

Yep. I was checking cotton in moulton/speake thought it was gonna get us. Oh well. Shouldn't have gotten my hopes up.

In six mile I have had nothing but a sprinkle with it raining all around for 3 days.

Will continue to have a huge impact on the county -- schools, infrastructure, etc. -- unless they get one or more companies to come in to replace some of that tax money.

I've seen very few fields of corn that looked good, I'm curious about how many bushels will make on some fields just west of Cherokee on Hwy72. Those fields always look good, I think they get rain when no else does.

Did any farmers "not" plant soybeans after wheat his year? That has to be nerve racking.

All wheat i know of was double cropped. I had heard of a couple in 1 county thinking about taking prev planting.

We got all acres under my watch planted in beans behind wheat. Had to replant a few but we got a stand now. Those double crop beans can be our best ones sometimes. Corn is all over the board. There'll be 30bpa to 230bpa this year. Very sporadic. Cotton made the Tn valley. It's holding on just fine. There's a reason we used to grow it from wall to wall.
