Yea I have the same problem but I eat most every fish I catch so I get my hook back when I fillet. They do like those senkos.

What size Senko and hooks are you using? I use 6-7" Yum Dinger with 5/0-6/0 hooks and never have that problem. One of my top 5 baits.

You can remove gut hooks without hurting fish,if they are 1# or bigger it is easier.

Keep an eye on your line, if it twitches or moves at all unnaturally, set the hook. Don't wait to feel the fish pull, by then they have already engulfed the bait. Took me a while to learn how to watch the line, but now it is easy as cake, and no deep hooked fish.

I never use anything smaller than a wide gap a 5/0 with a 5" Senko. Even on the rare occasion they gut hook on the fall I can reach and remove it with the my hook pliers.
Live for today. Hope for tomorrow. Roll with the punches.
