At 30 feet they could have taken it out with 00 buckshot.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

Things are shaping up for an "incident" before next January.
Character is not developed in moments of temptation and trial. That is when it is intended to be used.

I'd be willing to bet that the destroyer's fire control team never put their tracking/targeting equipment online...that was the SU-24's whole mission: To get lit up with something that could be recorded and analyzed! They would have relied on telemetry from AWACS or other intercepting aircraft and kept their own gear quiet while watching and recording everything they could at the same time. Back in the 80s, I was flying F-4s out of Aviano, Italy. We were participating in a big exercise in the Mediteranean Sea and I buzzed a Russian destroyer at about the same altitude. I'd hate to have a Phantom thundering by me at 30'! MAN, those things were loud! Indeed they were. That's why I think they were the best Thunderbirds. Big airplane with two engines and lots of noise!

Love the T-birds in the Phantom. I'll give you a four ship flyby in F-111's with all Eight burners in zone five if you want a little noise. The Russian boys might have had some "music gathering devices" on board. I flew F-111 and EF-111 for a while.

No doubt! The T-Birds were awe-inspiring in the Phantoms!...always seemed to me like they did their shows faster back then, too. You'd think the nimble little Falcons would look faster than the big F-4's, but it seemed like the Phantom's show was a little more exciting. I've watched the T-Birds in every ship since the F-l00's...The Floods and Thuds were unpainted, and they shined like new money!
Well behaved women never make history.~ Out back Quit laughing...I think I broke something.
Fifteen is my limit on Schnitzen-Gruben, Baby...
I have OCD and ADD, so everything has to be perfect, but only for a minute.
