Reading the bow plot thread, I've always wanted a lablab plot for bow season. Anyone done it. Worth the effort?

I have planted a few yrs, back when my deer heard was low. I grows like kudzu in june, july and august, lots of browse.... Stalk out of ground gets 1-2" thick. Planted with corn and sunflowers - it needs something to run on. Never used as fall bow spot - just for high protein summer food. Hope this helps

I planted WMS lab lab supreme last may and it did great. I kept the deer off it until 8 weeks old. then they didnt even touch it until late augest anyway. but once they started they wore it out until I bush hogged it down in late September. You could leave it until bow season I guess but it will die after first heavy frost.

You just never know!

I planted some two seasons ago. It grew two or three feet high and looked great. The deer didn't touch it. I don't think they knew what it was and it all died by November 1st because it only likes hot, humid weather.

Don't bother with it. Planted it on our place when I used to plant corn there and it got head high and they never touched the stuff. But, they tear my okra up every yr, so I'm planting an okra plot this fall.

I've planted lab lab with soybeans and iron and clay peas for four straight years. The deer eat the soybeans and the iron and clay peas and never touched the lab lab in the four years. I am not wasting money on lab lab anymore.

okra is a good attractant, but low in protein.

mdf - if you add some iron clay peas, that's basically what the WMS LabLab Supreme mix consists of. We had similar results last year to what squatch mentioned for LabLab Supreme. They were slow to browse it most of the Summer, but when they found it, they hammered it (late Aug, early Sept).

I got a bag of lablab cheap and was just going to add it in,instead of planting it by itself.

never tried it, but ic peas is the best thing I've found. Problem is they eat it down to nothing if you aint carefull, so I would think lablab would be great mixed with it.

My theory and correct me if I'm wrong was to try and take pressure off of soybeans by hiding in with lab lab. This plot is only going to be an acre. The other problem is that I'm worried lab lab will choke out beans if it gets as tall and bushy as they say it will.
