Don't see a thread on Wheeler so decided to start one. I live in north Limestone county so it's most convenient for me. Fished upper Elk River mostly this year but will be hitting the mouth and main river soon. Any reports on Bass and/or Smallies?

Thanks.

lol. you might get a better response if you gave a report yourself rather than wanting one.

(chuckle) Yeah, prolly true but unfortunately I've been unable to go since posting. Had grandchildren visiting and pool fence to build. Hoping to have something to report tomorrow or Sunday.

Finally got out yesterday. Took the wife out with me for awhile. Took a good little bit to navigate the logs and junk in Elk River from Lehi to the TN river. Fished the rocks between the mouth of Elk and Lucy's Branch. Set her up with my drop shot rig. First/Best fish she caught was a nice 3-1/2 smallie. My best was a 4-1/2 large mouth. We had 4 smallies and 6 large between us from 10:30-3:30. (She doesn't handle cool weather very well) Only thing I could get 'em to hit was 4" & 5" Senkos.

I caught 'em throwing a pegged Texas rig against rock bank sitting in 16-24 feet. They'd hit it on the fall when we first started. Bite slowed later so I backed off 20-25 yards more and worked bottom. Needless to say I re-tied her drop shot rig A BUNCH.

Water temp was 65-66 BTW.

Not much to report today. First fish was a 4 lb drum on a swim jig. Lost a nice 3+ smallie on the same lure. Threw my go-to 5" Senko a few times to no avail. Went into Spring Creek and caught a 2 pounder on it flipping into a recent green leafy lay down. Slow day.
