I just moved to Auburn this past winter and was wondering if any of y'all have ever hunted in TNF. If so, what's the population like there and is it crowded? I'm thinking about going out there one early morning this next week and doing some scouting and to see if I hear any on the roost. Any tips will help. Thanks in advance aldeer community.

So you live ten minutes from it.... Why don't you get out there and scout?

Best tip I can give you is go out and just listen for birds. If you find a decent place don't tell a soul not even your mama smile.

That's my plan. But I was wondering how busy it is out there during turkey season. That's my main question.

Busy. I don't personally know of anyone besides myself who has killed birds out there, but half the frat boys in auburn hunt it

I called up and kilt my first turkey out there, but that was over 20 years ago. I called up 4 gobblers that morning. It use to be slap covered up with turkeys. Back then it wasn't uncommon to hear 7-10 birds gobbling on any given morning.

yea it's definitely not like that now.

There are some birds there, but you gotta find them on your own. And don't just assume that if a truck is parked in an area that the hunter has birds there. He may, but it's just as likely that he's trying to find some birds as well....

It gets pretty busy in the good spots. We usually take two trucks and park them around our spot so nobody comes in the back side on us. Also we have the most luck if you can circle around and call a bird away from the road.

I killed my first 6 turkeys there in two years of hunting while a student at AU. I put in a lot of time both hunting and scouting. I ultimately called in more hunters than birds, but there are some birds there. If you go on the weekends, it is way more crowded. I had good luck hunting the prescribed burned areas and swampy areas. So that's some starting points for ya.

I always went during the week, when the other people were at school.

Way to crowded and most don't respect that you are hunting an area. I've had people park within 25 yrds of my truck. They will come in on you and cut the bird off if they can. Have fun.
