Anyway and my farm in Tenn. we are not hunting trying to let the Turkeys rebound. So here I go Public Land. I did kill my first deer at David K. Nelson in Jan. So guys whats the best in your opinion??

First deer on public land that is. 40 on private

I am pretty familiar with Demopolis or DKN? honestly never seen a turkey in 10 deer hunts?? I know they are there sure sis hogs and deer.

off 219 It was the first hunting club I joined, so im pretty partial and still now just turkey hunt property. Well there is not a tree left on property No call or warning about that also he wanted lease to go up then he wasnt sure about leasing it nothing against him thats how he makes a living?? he seemed nice few times i met him? Yea I know it well. I grew up hunting it before he planted it in pines. He's a real close family friend and super nice guy but Mel is all about making $$$ off timber. It's a shame he clear cuts as hard as he does. I got the biggest ass whooping as kid shooting 22's in that big gravel pit in the middle of that place. Shot my gun before my dad said it was ok to shoot! Never forget that.

Yeah Demopolis is loaded in my experience with Deer and Hogs on Daubs swamp. I mean Daubs Swamp needs some Hog Control big greenfield on powerline is almost tore up. I missed a bore on last PW hunt in jan.

Awesome you know that Place the big field just up from where your talking about last year got some awesome footage of Hen and jake came to ten yards and just stayed on us Hen just kept Cackling and Jake putting around. ABout 10 mins of video of them right in front of gun barrel. Yeah I know Timber pretty well myself, of course I really am stuck treating Lumber all the time now. Those pines were 35-40 from my guess but they were so perfect.

Sorry you lost the good habitat and place. If it helps any he's done the same on the place I grew up hunting of his too. Used to be a turkey haven now it's mangled up thickets and hardwoods nearly gone. Used to hear 10-12 birds every hunt. Now maybe 2-3 on a good day.

If your friends with Mel then you have some choice spots to hunt. He owns about 15,000 acres from what I heard you know how that can be. Hear he has honeyhole on river??

That club was like 750 acres. Really good Turkey hunting. yeah it upset some people when he just cut the place down.Like you said its all about the$$$ Pulp is still high I think too. I killed a really nice 8pt across the road on the dam of that pond. thats where i stayed 330 acre tract. Again when I have met him the few times he seemed very nice. We would all do the same to make money for our family.

Uh, if you still have the lease thru turkey season you better check it out. Turkeys love a new clearcut. Hunt em like pasture birds.
