Mississippi House of Representatives' Game and Fish Committee pushes out a bill that includes license increases, deer and turkey tagging, and language to provide the state to charge a fee for the tags:

Y'all think this ain't coming here you're crazy. States follow each other. It's only a matter of time.

I've been following this in MS as well. Hunters can only say "please tax and regulate us more" so many times before the legislators oblige.

I've been advocating a real tagging system for years. The response from game officials was that it would be too expensive. My response was charge enough extra to cover the cost.
Probably need more game wardens to actually enforce it. You get what you pay for.

I was issued tags in MS back in the late 90's for certain areas.

83% of all statistics are made up.

Where's the data to support this assertion? Is it just a hunch? Surely with all the tagging in the US we could find areas similar to Bama and compare.

I have no influence on any game laws or regulation but I wouldn't complain about paying extra for a system that might help control the redneck if it's brown it's down crowd. The current honor system 3 buck limit is a joke

I was told this, about tags, back in the 1990s.

Outlaws will still be outlaws.. The honest folks will follow the law as they do now. If it does change, I doubt tags would have a positive affect on hunting.. Likely wouldn't be negative either.. Just another fee to pay for the hunters..

A tagging system Ron ain't going to stop the outlaw hunters. Nothing will if they ain't getting caught. This is all about finding revenue. Not QDMA or enforcement.

From what I understand the majority of these proposed regulations are coming from politicians trying to find more ways to increase taxes and fees to fund their bad spending habits. And us hunters of the state have a large target on our backs.

Tagging wont help, but if something had to be done I would recommend they stop stealing money from the DCNR and reallocating it somewhere else.

Then if there still wasn't enough money to hire more wardens I would support a license increase or something. Tags will be a pain, but I think we need more Wardens to catch the law breakers.

Its those law breakers that give all us legal hunters (and gun owners) a bad name. Make the fines high enough to truly discourage people. If they cant pay fine, put them in jail.

More game wardens might be a start. Outlaws are outlaws, but tagging works in a lot of places. Catching offenders and tearing them a new one would give them something to think about. Cheaters are gonna cheat but there have to be ways to slow them down. Part of our problem is our season is very long and there are so many chances to go down the wrong path.
I'm definitely not advocating shortening the season. I just like to go but I'll never be a threat to the game population. If everyone killed as many as I do, they'd have to put a bounty on deer to make it safe to drive

Some of you on here are just being #";#heads. You dont like the way things are so lets screw it up for everyone right? Everyone that doesnt hunt on a hunting lease kills everything they see or bait. People talk about getting kids into hunting, why should they if it's going to get more expensive, every year they will come up with a reason to increase the price. Bunch of dang democrats, think the freaking government is the answer to everything.

Why does everyone think that there is no money for GW's?
I see that all the time. Where are you gathering that info from, SPECIFICALLY??
Because, the budget is set every year for a full staff.

You might want to look harder at where our money is going instead of jumping to conclusions!

I personally cannot understand the " I dont like it this way so lets make it a LAW so other people have to do things like I do" mentality.
And "Im ok with paying more...so you all should be too."

Well guess what? Ive lived in MANY tag states, and check in states and IT DOESNT change a freakin thing.

You have "ideals" about how things should work. I have experience in HOW THEY actually work!Every wife and daughter over 16 gets a freakin tag. The deer never leave their property...straight to the freakin barn. Wake up ok???

I see that enough from dang dems! Idealists...not realists...basing their IDEAS on theories..then cramming it down the rest of our throats!

Yea...wouldnt it be nice if there was world peace and we all just held hands and sang Koombya???
Well guess what? Its a pipe dream...not reality based. It will never happen.

Deal with reality and you all need to stop cramming YOUR ideas down other throats..at their cost. If you like it..I have an idea...fill out a freakin tag and tie it to your deer...but dont make me. And guess what? I never shoot more then 1 -2 deer a freakin year now. But I dont want to have to deal with uneeded BS!

Thanks...rant over. ODO out. slap

you know..theres a bunch of liberals who think we should register firearms, tax guns like a sin tax, ammo too.

Make it harder to buy firearms and even limit the number of firearms you can buy.
And tax the heck out of them.
Bet theyd like to tag em to..with your finger prints...so only you can fire them...not your son, wife etc that live with you.

Great ideas right? man...safety orientated. We NEED to adopt them man...just for safety!
They want to even regulate how many rounds you can put in. 7 -10..who needs more then that?

THEY dont think anyone does!

Great ideas right?

Well guess what..?

everyone of those laws have been passed and crammed down folks throats except the dang finger prints..but their working on it.

Yall need to back off with your more laws and regulation BS or dont freakin complain when others force their BS ideas on YOU.

All of you folks who are so up on more regulation and more fees, simply make a donation each year to the DCNR. I'm sure they will accept it. As for myself, I purchased the privilege for me and my children to hunt for the rest of our lives years ago in the form of lifetime licenses. I WILL NOT pay additional fees for tags.
