You can hunt National Forest land year round. All WMA's you can only hunt with the weapon that is allowed for the hunt that is currently going on. So no rifles on a WMA during turkey season.

They want to get rid of the hogs but do not want you to hunt them with gun big enough year around. I am not going to shoot something if I do not feel I can kill without it going off somewhere and die and become coyote bait.
