The ones with the most money will have the deer period because they can put massive amounts of feed out. I'm seeing it first hand with my neighbors. Our deer virtually disappeared and their game biologist said they need to kill over 40 due to over population.

Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

As a FL and AL hunter, I just don't get it! I can hunt right over my corn in FL. But in AL, I cannot. I shoot just about the same amount of deer either way and in both places!

I don't get that I can plant corn stalks in July and have corn pretty much for the first half of the season all over the place due to those corn stalks being dragged all over my plot by the coons etc... And that's legal. But I can't sprinkle 2 kernels of corn on the ground myself?

The way AL regs are now, it's simply ridiculous. Either allow it and allow people to hunt over it or don't allow corn at all!!!!

Whether you like it or not, corn is an attractant and will draw deer in, just as well as a good food plot! Deer need more than corn and actually desire a balanced diet. So corn alone will not do it. If you have corn out, you need to still hunt the acorns and other food sources! I have a feeder out on my AL property and it's a legal feeder! I have shot deer that are on their way to that area. And I have had them walk right past the corn to come to my plot!

It's not something magical. But it does create a lot of confusion in the laws with the way it's written right now.

In GA. Once they legalize baiting, I started seeing far more deer.

Why: Before it was legal every outlaw around me was baiting and I was NOT. Making it legal only leveled the playing field.

I"d just like Alabama's baiting law to be less discretionary for hunters and GW's.

Ban it or make it legal. But as it's written, it is confusing at best and gives the GW an intentionally vague law full of loopholes.

Ambiguous laws are just pointless. I believe I saw somewhere that the GW's hand out $125,000 in baiting fines each year too.

I can tell you that regulation to make up for budgetary shortfalls (due to fiscal irresponsibility) don't sit right with me.

Whomever worded the current law needs a beating.

Again, I don't care which way they go on it as long as it is clearly legal or clearly illegal.

I do believe, however, that the law is intentionally vague.

I'm pretty sure that all hunting fines collected per year added together account for less than 1% of the State's DCNR budget. So I highly doubt they're using it as a means of added income intentionally...or as you put it "regs to make up for budget shortfalls"

I tell you what if you want corn change the time of year to killing and not hunting. If you want to be a hunter then HUNT dang it. Learn your flipping land and practice management. If your management is shoot everything that walks then so be it. If you want to let them go so they can grow then do that but dang it put the freaking bait bull crap to rest. I see a lot of similarities in the banning guns, legalizing corn, legalizing mary jane, oh yeah it is the world is becoming a bunch of sissys. Ok I will step down from my soap box. If the shoe fits wear it. HUNT the deer and enjoy the experience of hunting NOT just the kill.

There are two seasons: hunting season and getting ready for hunting season.
