A number of years ago I put a bag of Deer Cane out. It was back when they still called it Deer Cocaine. I put it out right after deer season. I checked the spot pretty regularly throughout the spring, summer and fall with no sign of activity although the rains had dissolved it pretty quickly. I wrote the stuff off as a gimmick and forgot about it. Then the following hunting season (two springs and summers had passed) I happened by the site I put it while scouting and they had made a hole about 10 feet across and 2-3 feet deep. It certainly worked, but just took time to draw their interest for some reason.

Never tried a trophy rock so I can't compare.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Similar experience for me, but with Trophy Rock. Had it in the backyard and didn't seem to get much activity. Months and months later, they've dug out a hole getting to it.

These three bags make my mineral licks to get those deer passing by the needed minerals. Dicalcium phosphate helps the lactation with does. A coffee can of each in a dirt hole near a stump does wonders. I am not a believer in mineral licks keeping deer on my property.

There are two seasons: hunting season and getting ready for hunting season.
