Try Keiffer pear trees and Dolgo, Callaway crabapples. They hold and drop later than others do and deer love pears. I cage all of mine as they are expensive deer rub trees. Trees sleep then creep then leap in growth most of the time depending on soil. So you will see fruit get better year 4 or 5.

You had any luck with certain chestnuts? We had chinkapin nuts and chestnuts planted at one time and deer wouldn't touch them. The sharp outside hull could have caused them not want to eat them.

Plant those hard pears that will mature in late fall.

Have to teach them to eat them by cutting a lot up around the trees.
