Any of y'all delt with it?My 4 yr old has been sick a week now.We went to his primary pediatrician last Thursday and she said Bronchitis. Went back Tuesday and she still says Bronchitis even though his fever got to 103.4 Monday night. Finally had enough and took him to Children's Wednesday night. They at first said possibly flu cause his o2 levels were perfect and his lungs sounded clear but we wanted an X-ray to make sure.Well xray showed Pneumonia in one lung.He has coughed his head off, running a fever anywhere from low grade-over 101 most of the day the last couple days which is obviously worse at night,He's throwed up like 6 times the last 5-6 days which I think is mostly caused by coughing and getting choked up and he has zero appetite. He's been eating mostly fruit the last few days. He's still drinking pretty good and is hydrated just fine.Doc has him on some antibiotics, inhaler and cough medicine since Tuesday but he's really not much better.Just wondering if any of y'all have dealt with it in yalls young kids and how long did it take them to get over it.

Hate to hear that trox. I can't stand seeing the kids when they are sick. Keep an eye on them and as comfortable as possible, if it don't break soon I'd go back or somewhere else to get another opinion.

You might need a specialist. Go get a second opinion and bring all the records and meds you got on this case with you when you go to see them. Some bugs are a lot harder to clear up these days than they used to be.

Dang trox, I hate to hear the little one is sick. Mine have never had pneumonia. I'll say a prayer for the little fella.

He has been on the antibiotics that treat pneumonia since Tuesday.Hasn't had any shots yet. They didn't seem to concerned about it at Children's just said to keep him drinking, control the fever and stay on the antibiotics. How high did your daughters fever get and did she ever throw up?

You're right about some of this crap going around now.I was sick before, during and after Christmas with what started out as a cold that turned into the Flu then strep.I ran fever for 10 days and layed around for 2 weeks.Didn't think I was ever gonna get over it.I figured that's what my lil boy had gotten but they confirmed pneumonia at Children's.I'm hoping this crap gets better soon.If he's no better by Monday we definitely going somewhere possibly sooner.

A second opinion is only gonna cost you money. I got four kids, I stopped worrying about spending money on their health a long time ago. Plus, Obama has your back unless you completed your green-card application.

Treat his fever and control his cough and take antibiotics. It takes a couple weeks to get over pneumonia. And he may keep a cough for a while. There is nothing else to do for pneumonia except change antibiotics if those aren't working but there's no reason they shouldn't. Just takes time. He probably had bronchitis to begin with and it advanced into pneumonia.

My oldest nephew had it when he was about 6 years old I guess. We were at our parents house for Sunday lunch and the kids were outside playing. We noticed he kept holding tucking his elbow up to his rib cage. He had been sick, but not what anyone would consider seriously sick.

It was obvious he had pain in his side the way he was holding his arm so he got taken the hospital. He spent about a week in Children's Hospital with a tube in his side draining fluid and getting IV antibiotics.

Your child should be fine. Most likely your pediatrician placed you on either Zithromax, augmentin, or omnicef all of which cover pneumonia. As the previous poster said, pneumonia even in a healthy child will take 1-2 weeks to get better. As long as your child is staying hydrated, the fever is gradually coming down, and showing no signs of shortness of breath/air hunger (rib cage flaring in and out with breathing, increased breathing rate, nasal flaring, loud wheezing) they will be fine. It's absolutely the scariest thing ever when your little one is sick but watch for those symptoms and you will be set.

As far as seeing a specialist, pneumonia is unfortunately common even in young healthy kids so if you have any concerns would recommend followup with your pediatrician prior to seeking specialty care.

We done a follow-up yesterday.Doc told us to just keep him hydrated and control his fever.Said go have a follow-up X-ray in 2 weeks. He's not on any of the antibiotics you mentioned.Shes got him on 250mg Cefdiner once daily. He's been on that since Tuesday and is showing very minor signs of getting better. The thing I don't understand is he's starting to puke alot more and that's when he has problems breathing. He woke up at 3 this morning coughing really bad and puked and it was hard for him to breath for a few minutes. His fever jumped up to 102.8 but broke pretty quick after giving him some advil.Just scary as hell with him puking like that and his fever still going up after being on the antibiotics 4 days.I don't know if its because all stuff is finally starting to break up and come up and its getting him choked up or what that's causing the puking but its scary cause of his breathing.I've just never dealt with pneumonia and don't know if this is just part of it or what but its scary.During the day he's not bad.His fever is usually low grade if that but soon as late afternoon hits he starts going downhill.Debating on taking him back to Children's especially after his fever got back up that High last night.

Did he start throwing up before or after he started the antibiotics? I ask that because there is an antibiotic that I cannot take because it made me throw up. Also, if the antibiotic says to take with food, be sure that he eats first since some of them are hard on your stomach if you don't eat.

If you are not sure whether you should take him back or not, you might at least call the doctor and explain how he has been since the last visit. The doc may tell you to bring him back.

He throwed up I think 2 times before he started the antibiotic. Since he's started it He's throwed up 6-7 times now but I think it's because he's getting choked up cause he's always coughing real bad before he throws up.He's been fine so far today. No fever since about 7 this morning. He's eat a little bit and took his antibiotic and done his inhaler they gave him.Hes been coughing some but not a whole lot.Been playing and said he feels fine. That's how its been the last few days but he gets wayyyy worse at nighttime and that's when he really gets to coughing, throwing up and running fever.

Hopefully he's over the hump Travis. It just kills my soul to see kids sick and we can't do anything for immediate relief. Sounds like he's in good hands all the way around though.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.
