I have been detecting for over 40 years. It has been my main hobby for the last 10 or so years. I mainly look for older coins. The oldest i found is an1834 Caped Bust dime. The most common silver you find is the Mercury dime. I average about 100 silver coins a year. My main detector is the Minelab ETrac. I use the SEF 6X8 search coil coin shooting. I hunt primarily in Mobile around the old houses that I can get permission to hunt. Houses in the country don't have many coins as people barter as opposed to walking to the store with money. The best areas around a house is under the clothes lines and between where the car was parked and the front door.

metal detecting finds

Here's an album with some of my stuff from the last two years. Going to Virginia soon so I'm hoping to add a belt plate to my collection this year. Private property at the invitation of the landowner.

Getting a little harder to find and gain access to good sites here. Always on the lookout though.....

Think I got it fixed now. There's nothing amazing in there anyway lol. Just some small stuff.

You know out west the find all kinds of things on sites where old outhouses were, pistols, watches, knives and coins.

Thanks!

The old copper wedding bands are my favorite thing to find. And you can't hardly tell, but one of the things is a v nickle stuck to an Indian head.....just the way I dug them up.

LOL Sorry couldn't pass it up. You did have some pretty cool finds. I have done a little metal detecting but have never used a really good one.

Awesome finds johnnyreb. Makes me want to buy a detector and start searching our land. It has been flooded several times so I would think there would be some good stuff out there.
