full moon and a German scope will get you easily into illegal hours... Ain't that the truth. My rich friends shock me with some of the times they say they've shot. I've been told they could shoot all night on a field on a clear night.

My theory is as long as I can see and make sure my shot placement is good. Plus 100% sure of what it is "doe or buck". Last night I could still see at 5:40 through my scope. This is what I go by Me to.

I always went by the 30 minutes after as that's what we have in FL and there ain't much light left at 30 minutes after sunset. It's good to know that you can shoot if you have enough light to see. If you can't count points at 100 yards it's too late. About 5:30 this time of year with great optics. Way before that in timber with no moon light.

Myself, I get down earlier than most because I cannot judge age/antlers at last dim light. Too many mistakes happen then.

I had an experienced guest hunting with me on day. Rule was five year old or better, no antler restrictions. I got down at last good light(to me) and had walked almost to the truck when he shot. I drove around to get him and he had a real nice TWO YEAR OLD eight point down. Said he looked bigger when he shot.  Friend of mine in Greene Co used to kill nice two year olds on a semi regular basis by shooting too late to judge. A buck bigger than anything else in the field would come in and he's kill it. Other deer were does and fawns...go figure...
