My mother works at Holly Pond school. A few years back around Christmas she was reading Rudolph to the class. Someone looked out the window and said look at that deer. She said it was the biggest rack deer she had ever seen walking by the football field. I know folks that have been killing deer over that way for years.

I'll put it another way. We do surveys and try to sample deer throughout the county with assistance of many, many landowners across the county and north of 69 and west of 65 do not have populations like the SW corner of the county. There are pockets of pretty good numbers but as whole, due to broken land ownership patterns, deer numbers are pretty low to very scarce in places.

I didn't say there weren't deer. I leased too much ground in Cullman Co. To know otherwise. There aren't sustainable populations under current conditions and harvest mentality.

And I've still never seen a deer anywhere near our place. Duck River or the back end of Baileyton is as close as I've seen one even running surveys.

That's a hoss. A stud of a deer no matter where it was killed. Unless he's got escaped high fence genes, I'd bet my lunch money he was older than 3 1/2.

Just saw where a friend of mine killed a brute of a 10 point in Cullman co.Seems like some good ones coming in from there..I can remember when there was not a huntable population there.
