Ok, farm truck won't crank. My FIL ran it out of fuel, we put in more fuel, new filter and it hasnt cranked since. What I do know: Fuel pump is running, but not pumping fuel, i dont think. The truck will crank on gas soaked rag, but will not pick the fuel up. Have cycled it about 50 times to try and "prime" the injectors. Fuel isnt coming into fuel bowl, and it isnt leaving either. ANy suggestions??? Have tried to pull it off also. The SOB engineer that made this thing with no bleed valve of any kind, needs a kick in the balls.... Truck has 300,000 on it, first time really had a issue..

Oh fuel reset button isnt out either.. And have checked all the fuses

Yes I know it has air in the lines...... Maybe I should have said, Has anyone ever bleed out one of these motors.

Crack an injector loose and see if you're getting fuel there.

Don't know about ford but on a dodge you have to bleed air from high pressure lines where they enter head

May have to completely bleed all the lines if there is air in them?

What fur said. You can also crack an injector and turn it over until it bleeds itself.

All the injector lines are UNDER the Valve cover gaskets... no way to crack them....

Yea, just says cycle the switch 20-30 seconds at a time, and it will "purge" itself, but It hasnt worked for me. I'm hoping its not the injection pump...

I know you know what you are doing. I have piddled with junk machinery my whole life and one thing is for sure, air in diesel lines can give you a fit.

See if you've got any fuel coming back through the return line.

I cracked all the lines that was at the fuel filter bowl, no fuel to none of em.. BUT I can fell the fuel pump running, under the frame. But its like its not pumping fuel to the filter base.

Have you pulled the filter and run the switch (key) until air is gone and only running fuel out? Did you put fuel in it (tank), and did you fill it up enough to get the air out?

God Bless,

Yes, I pulled out the filter today, turned on key, even turned the motor over, and fuel didnt enter or leave the filter basin... put 10 gallons in.

Yea, Im thinking Injector pump is gone.. Cause it will crank on a gas soaked rag. I mean fuel pump may be bad, BUT why would it be running? I dont know... This is why 7.3 International, wont ever leave.. Its simple, easy, and works great.

From what I have read, fuel comes in from the bottom of the bowl, and returns also from the bottom back to tank

Im hoping maybe the fuel pressure regulator is bad, instead of injection pump
