Me and my buddy will graduate from the academy Thursday. We will get to go out Wednesday night, and wanted to ask if there is a good steak house in town?

Probably the best in town will be Tally-Ho on Mangum. It's really close to the Academy too.

And congrats!

central ala,
Tally-Ho. Been there 100 years I believe. I seriously would like to know how long it's been there?

I don't think it's been there that long. I think it's been in business about 60 years. I think the building and stuff may be much older, or at least the original building.

Here the history of the Ho:

http://www.tallyhoselma.com/history.html

Probably is your best steak on a consistent basis in town. The Golden Ranch also has good steaks and they might let you use their conference/meeting section if you are going as a class. Stay out of trouble. I was a Selma Police Supervisor for many years and on more than one occasion had to call a Chief and tell him what his drunk, hopeful academy graduate did after the last day of class. We didn't lock them up, but let the people that sent them to the academy deal with it. Saw a guy get yanked out of line by his bosses and told to go home on graduation day, prior to graduating one time, due to his drunken escapades the night before.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Not true, you just don't know where to go in Selma.

Lol, it will just be a few of us going out together. And we won't be pounding any brews the night before graduation.

Maybe things have changed since I lived there.

Yep, they changed. The good areas and people have decreased unfortunately, but they are still here. Like I've said, you just have to know where they are.

No, they have more happen to them that way than a night at the county jail segregated from everyone else to sleep it off and then the small fine it would be for Public Intoxication. There is no break in your chief getting a call from another department saying that you had the police called on you.

We may be down for some wings, we're open to options as long as it's good chow.

My last two trips to the Tally Ho have not been impressive. Cold food and slow service. If you have somewhere to cook, go buy steaks from Marks Mart and fire up the grill. If not good luck at the Tally Ho.

The long time owner retired and turned it over to his daughter. He won't be happy to hear that.

Best advice is here. If y'all got somewhere private to cook and drink then that would be the best party.

With a little notice I'm sure they could use the FOP Lodge. It has everything needed for a good cook out or full pit BBQ.

I've been to Selma once and was treated like a long lost member of the family.
Those Chicken swirls are amazing.
