My daughter killed a pretty nice turkey in March. We should be getting him back from Taxidermist very soon. Local sporting goods store wants to borrow him for display this spring. We are flattered, but nervous that he might not be protected. Anyone ever been through this before? Would you let him go.

Only way I would let someone borrow that stud of a gobbler would be if he was in a plexiglass case. Be sure to post a pic of the mount when you get it back.

AU coonhunter. I really appreciate that. I never thought about a plexiglass case. Thank you!

If I was nervous about it I wouldnt.

Just explain to them why, they should understand.

Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.

I would see exactly where they were plannin on hanging it. Make sure it's out of reach for anyone to touch and heck I'd be the one that hung it. I let my taxidermist borrow several mounts from me for shows and stuff and never had any trouble. He used deer, geese, and a turkey and no trouble. I'd probably be a little nervous with someone "petting" it so if it was me I'd make sure it was out of reach, but that'd be a neat deal to be able to show her bird.

I would charge them whatever it costs you to mount it, and have them assure you that it will be protected in a contract. You could even throw in a figure for damages if something were to happen to it. I remember that bird and he's a once in a hundred lifetimes type of bird that I would hate to lose

If it's the turkey that I'm thinking about, with the swords for spurs....I'd let them display it for 5% of their yearly profits! cool Most businesses won't give you anything for free, so why should you do it for them?

No, I've seen too many greasy handed kids petting them.

Stresses me out

Didn't really get into it other than they would like the turkey during spring turkey season. I was on my lunch break and just stopped for a bit. They knew that i had bought those Remington nitro turkey loads there. I don't think i am going to let him go.

I am really looking forward to getting him back. She almost didn't go that morning. 24 degrees. She was just in the right spot at the right time. Just pure luck. Well, and a great caller.

Here is a picture i took of the NWTF guy holding what made this turkey special. Please guys. I am not bragging, that's not me at all. Proud. Yes i am. She wants to hunt and i am thankful for that. Just wanted to share picture. It was taken right before he measured. Had to send several pictures to NWTF. Like i said earlier, she just got lucky.

I would if it was in a plexiglass case like mentioned above. They used to have a stud gobbler from TN in the Gander Mountain here in Huntsville killed by a local doctor. Think it has 8 beards?

Have them put him up on shelf with large signs asking not to touch, that's if the case idea doesn't work.

When you kill a bird as old as that knew you can brag all you want, because there ain't but a handful of folks ever stood on ones head that big.

If in a plexiglass case, yes. Otherwise, no, I wouldn't do it.

Trophy and once in a lifetime bird!!

May you and your daughter have many more together!!

God Bless,

I probably wouldn't let it be publicly displayed if I was not there with it. That's too special a bird to get messed up. Maybe do a day show for him or something. I know a lot of people would like to see it.
