How is your hunting going. Our numbers are way down this year. We have seen a lot less deer and have not killed that many either. I am still getting some on my cameras but not all in my area are getting the pics that I am.

I haven't seen much but haven't put in much time due to work and the weather and running some traps. I talked to another member today and he said all his camera has are night pics.

It's my first year hunting in Baldwin County, but I have not been impressed at all by deer numbers. I'm a member of a club with what I consider light to moderate pressure. I've seen a few deer while hunting, and have a few on camera. From my observations, mature does are not as common as I'd like to see. I've been running multiple cameras since August and only found 2 mature bucks. I can tell this has been an area with historical high hunting pressure (the deer seem to avoid the road). Seems like there are some coyote issues. I'd also state the opinion that does probably should not be shot on this property, or at least further limited than the current self imposed restrictions of the club. Being a first year member, I'm leaning on the side of not voicing that too loud, but I just have elected not to shoot any thus far myself.

All that being said, I don't think it's been a good year for numbers seen or numbers killed by anyone I've talked to in this area.

This is the first year in a long time that I am not hunting in Baldwin County. For me it just wasn't worth the drive anymore. When I first started hunting over there the hunting was head and shoulders above Mobile County but each year it got a little worse with last year being the first year that I did not kill a mature buck or at least the opportunity. I attribute that to the big push by fellow members and surrounding landowners to shoot just about every doe they saw. So for me I bailed out. I hope y'all have better luck wink

I hunt around the Stapleton/Whitehouse Forks area and the deer sightings are way down especially on the property I hunt on in Stapleton. We have plenty of trail cam pics but nearly all deer movement has been at night thus far this season.

Horrible. Deer numbers don't seem to be even half what they use to. I'm getting damn tired of it.

That's true.......I wouldn't say the hunting in Baldwin County is horrible but it definitely is not as good as it was just five years ago....

I think there are a lot of things going on around us but the biggest to me is the weather. I just can't see the deer numbers going down that much in one year. That being said this kind of year might make a really good next year.

I was just saying that today myself. Killing less deer this year could be a good thing around here smile

Nobody is seeing much in Baldwin County this year from what I've heard. I attribute it to an abundant acorn crop. Now that they are almost gone, folks should be laying some deer on the ground this weekend if the weather holds out. We have an abundance of deer where I hunt in north Baldwin. Just not as many does as I would hope to see. On 200 acres, we have pics of 12 different bucks. Only 2 of which are mature and they are nothing to get excited about.

Just another example of over harvest of the does. It's simple, kill more does than you do bucks and you reduce the population, do it for 8-10 years in a row and you devastate the herd. Blame it on the weather, food, pressure etc. but you cant kill whats not there anymore. This is a problem over most all of North America today.

First time in my life I have not been in a club in Baldwin County. There have really only been 2 cold weekends(opening weekend and Dec 20). Avg temp has been 73 degrees. Even during good weather, you could hunt first two weeks and last two weeks, skip in between and have the same success rate(I rarely did this).

We hunt 650 acres just north of Stapleton and it gets very little pressure due to the make up of the members. There have been 4 does killed (100lbs, 92lbs, 86lbs) and one small buck(child's first deer). While we do see deer on the roads and in the fields regularly it is definitely not as good as last year. We have nothing to speak of on cameras this year either. By this time last year we had multiple nice bucks on camera, and were seeing young bucks in the field. We didn't kill any of the bucks last year and only killed 4 does.

what i'm saying is it's been too hot. i run multiple cameras and the deer are there...at night. when we get cooler weather, not this mid 70 to low 80 stuff, we should all be seeing daylight deer. some 55 degree temps sustained for a week will get them moving during the day.
